On the contrary, it’s exactly the right time! Applejack reminds her of a very simple truth: Had Apple Bloom actually made something of herself, her cutie mark would’ve appeared. At this point, she’s merely lashing out by turning everypony else into an artificial blank flank and forcing them to deny what makes them special.  
Essentially, trying to elevate herself by dragging everypony else down.
