Again, THIS IS PINKIE PIE! Her actions weren’t “good” and I’m not saying that but it was in characters (and “LE” never really said what she was doing was right and Twilight clearly called her out).
Ever seen Pinkie’s Pride of S4? Best Pinkie episode yet IMO.

And to reiterate, she’s never there to see Luna saying she wants to be loved not feared, except for when she made her big entrance when she was talking in her big booming voice, which to be honest was kinda hard to understand. So, what reason could she have to think that the princess wasn’t in on the whole scaring everypony thing? It’s her holiday, named after her, in honor of her, and is about frightening people! Of course she would think Luna was trying to scare everyone and Pinkie was just playing along!
Also Pinkie was always in the group of kids. She was the only consistent older pony with them, so it’s easy to assume she took over chaperoning them for Granny, who as we are keen to remember, was supposed to be asleep five hours ago. And as any older sibling who has supervised a group of young trick-or-treaters will tell you, half the job is making things fun, and on Halloween fun equals scary. Pinkie was over playing the whole being scared of Luna thing for the kids sake, so her being ‘insensitive’ to Luna was just a combination of ignorance and trying to be a good chaperone! (and of course, just being Pinkie).

As if any sane person would assume that someone else was “in” on something like that. Not even Twilight understood what Pinkie was doing. It’s pointless to try and excuse it or explain it away, because it’s just plain bad behavior whichever way you look at it. So all I’m saying is that it was more annoying than anything we’d seen from her before then, and she’s only gotten worse ever since.
And if they’re going to “make mistakes”, then they ought to be called out on that so they could do some maturing. Sadly, Pinkie only grows more childish as the show progresses.
Oh, and you implied that Pinkie Pie’s always “reasonable.” I’m sorry but the character’s… well, let’s just say she’s consistently inconstant.
Except that it was Nightmare Night and she likely thought Luna (someone who’s not really a total stranger to Pinkie though not really a close friend) was in on the whole thing. In case you’re not watching the exact same show as the rest of us, that is something that’s in character for her.
Because like real people, fictional characters can and will make mistakes. They act differently depending on the situation and aren’t (or rather shouldn’t) be restricted to their core characteristics. AND THAT’S GREAT! THAT’S GOOD WRITING! When will fans like you get this?
No reasonable person treats total strangers or people you’ve just met that way. She has no excuse.
Luna Eclipsed has the excuse that she actually wasn’t aware of Luna’s issues and was trying to have fun with the kiddies.

I would still argue that she’s stooped to new lows ever since Luna Eclipsed and A Friend in Deed.
I’ll put it to you this way: the other members of the Mane 6 started rolling their eyes at her antics in the pilot episode. Applejack jammed an apple down her throat to shut her up at one point.
Pinkie was established as a top-tier annoyance by her first line in the show, which was an entire unpunctuated paragraph.
I wouldn’t especially know, I’ve only watched a handful of S1/S2 episodes, the only pinkie one being Party of One. So that, plus Too Many Pinkies, sort of had me in the mental state of “Pinkie is canon annoying”.

I found her entertaining through most of the episode, just the end bit with her being legitimately obnoxious with her ‘fake’ arguing.
Plus, she was legitimately funny here.
She really didn’t feel that bad to me in this episode. And Pinkie’s obnoxiousness tends to always fluctuate with how in focus she is in the episode. She herself wasn’t obnoxious in Too Many Pinkie Pies. I thought she was really calm and nice there
