It’s almost like both options of how to handle it have their own problems, because it was a bad idea from the outset.
>Writers write episode focused on Twilight/ her princess status.
>HURR DURR SPOTLIGHT STEALER MARY SUE SHOW RUINED FOREVER!!!!!!11!!
>Twilight’s princess status gets downplayed and things are more or less similar to the first three seasons
>HURR DURR POINTLESS ADDITION MCCARTHY IS SATAN!!!1!!11!!!
We brought this on ourselves.
We all know the anti-twilicornites would just throw a temper tantrum no matter what the staff did with her.
Without even getting into the fact that we still have plenty of future episodes and issues to explore it, After 9 months of constant drama and arguing being harassed and insulted on twitter and pretty much everywhere else, do you honestly think they’d take that chance?
Do you seriously believe that after all the shit they’ve had to suffer because of this, from both us and from Hasbro (but mostly us), that they’d play it up that drastically, this soon?
I’m honestly amazed they haven’t outright given us the finger yet.
Most ponies on every pony site seem to agree, they’ll need to introduce a possessive spirit to force Celestia and/or Twilight to be evil. Then, like 10 completely different Paper Mario cross fics will be written the next day, lol.
I can see how being given a promotion and a pair of wings might influence Twilight’s decision if she’s on the fence, but if she really thought Celestia had done something wrong or turned out to be evil (not that I think the latter would ever happen on the show), I don’t think it’d be enough to stop Twilight from opposing her. But, as you say, that’s just the weird way I view things. (And there are times I’ve wondered if I’m the weird one on Derpibooru for thinking well of both Celestia and Twilight.)
Okay, okay, fine.
If you’ll take into account that Celestia has made Twilight a Princess(or ‘guided’ or ‘pushed’, bottom line is she made it happen), you might think she was on the same or similar level to her. But think about this: Twilight’s always been her incredibly devoted vizier of sorts (as Sjogre pointed out), and if you were Celestia, would you not do everything in your power to make sure she can never have a justifiable reason to go against you?
What she has just given Twilight could just be her elaborate form of giving her favorite guard dog her juicy steak after years of biscuits and pats on the head, if you excuse the analogy.
Just the weird way I view things.
Exactly. Like how the other BP avoided this question.
So that people won’t have to actually answer the question and admit the logic, they jump and change the subject? Seems… on point.
Probably for the same reason that the people making this discussion keep sending the discussion off on tangents rather than addressing the questions asked of them.
Why do people making this discussion jump between arguing it’s merely cosmetic, getting called on that, to its greater implications, then returning to it being cosmetic if debate isn’t going the direction they want? Hopefully it’s different people, but I’m not betting on it.
How, exactly, does getting a pair of wings take from one the ability to rebel?
I think you misunderstood my comment. I wasn’t calling anyone a liar; I was saying this was the sort of confusion that led to the “Don’t believe her lies” meme.
How about the fact IDW actually has access to the scripts, the fact you haven’t read the comic, ergo you can’t say anything until the comic or the fourth season have come out and the fact you don’t work on the show.
I know how you feel bro.
Look people, i have heard good arguments as for why making twilight a princess is a bad decision, i even understand why many people hate MMC. But! Some people just treat the entire thing as the end of the world, A move that is bound to ruin the show and overall greatly overreact.
Look now that we know that the show isn’t going trough a full 180 degree paradigm shift we can say that in the worse case scenario this was just a one bad decision. There are a million other things that make the show what it is, and the writers are going to make both good and bad decisions in the future as well.
Those that have to remind us all how much they don’t like it in each and every opportunity just come off as a bunch of grumpy self centered people who have trapped themselves in an echo chamber. I don’t say that this is what all of them are, but that how they come off as.
What happened to the ponies who are optimistic S04 will be alright as usual, I see? :\
Wow. This is like…toddler-level rage, complete with a poor understanding of grammar. You type like the Hulk.
Here’s what I think. The only thing’s changed about Twilight is the fact she has wings, she’s grown a couple inches taller and her horn is much pointier looking. Her personality and relationships with her friends have not changed. However, not many of us know this and I think it would have been better if Season 3 had maybe a few more episodes for us to get used to her transformation (much like Optimus Prime getting upgraded in Beast Hunters) as opposed to us speculating.
Breathe in…

Entertainment is not entertaining anymore because of people like you, always ready to start a fight and make everyone feel like shit about themself because your ego wasnt stroked the right way

I know! It’s like people forget this is a cartoon show about a fantasy land of magical horses and their friendship.
Yes.
The amazing thing is that we’ve actually gone three weeks (I think) without any drama.
…We’re getting old…
