IKR. The bad thing about being a gun enthusiast is that I can’t even look at an image with a gun in it W/O being pissed off 99.9% of the time.
Southernershumans let stuff like ‘Logic’ get in the way?”ftfy
I grew up in rural Mississippi, and have lived in Alabama (Birmingham area), Texas (Dallas area), and Virginia (Blue Ridge Mountains); in my experience, “y’all” is mostly but not always used as a plural.
No argument there.
Logically, it would be plural-only. But since when have Southerners let stuff like “Logic” get in the way?
It’s more a regional thing, the correct usage varies, where I live it’s not as common to use of for one person but it’s no less correct then with more people.
Oh, I know it’s used for one person as well. It’s just not correct usage.
Ya’ll
@DudeManGuy
Interesting! When I was young, I remember “ya’ll” being said on television to refer to one person, and my mother correcting the usage. I remember my grandmother doing the same, once, so this may be a generation thing or a regional thing.
Oh and I’m from Louisiana, close to the border of Texas, it’s used for singular as well.
And I’m from northern Georgia with family in Alabama, and I can safely say I’ve heard “Y’all” used in the singular countless times.
Really and you don’t know it’s also used with one person as well?
That’s odd.
True that! She is voiced by a Canadian, though…
@Prof.NightJack
I’m from southern Mississippi, which is why I pointed it out.
Y’all ain’t from the South, are ya?
You’re not from anywhere that that is a common saying, are you?
She does this all the time in the show, though.
