Didn’t say they were unbeatable, just a bit tougher then most other types due to having limited weaknesses. Physical attacks worked pretty well, you just needed a Mon with enough Special to not get knocked out right away.

Oh really, I guess I didn’t tear through psychic types bake in Gen1&2, oh wait I never had a problem with them with them with the right moves…

Only damaging bug moves were Leech Life, Pin Missile and Twinneedle, and the most damaging one (Twinneedle) could only be learned by Beedrill, which is half poison.
 
While psychic types had weaknesses on paper, in reality that really only stopped being OP in about Ruby and Sapphire. Sure Silver and Gold introduced dark types, but they weren’t widespread enough to knock psychic down a peg until Gen 3.
