Sunset finally caught up to Twilight and found her curled up, sobbing near the broken Wondercolt statue. Cautiously, Sunset approached her, and knelt down.

“Twilight?”

Twilight looked up and saw her friend standing there, a concerned look on her face.

“Twilight, I’m not quite sure what’s going on. Can you tell me what’s wrong?”

Twilight scrunched her face up in anger. “What’s wrong?! What’s WRONG?!” she rose and wiped her eyes roughly, “Oh, it’s just that my BEST FRIEND decided to abandon me and make a NEW best friend!”

The tears started to flow again. “Starlight already has plenty of friends, but she comes here and suddenly you devote ALL your time to her, taking her out for ice cream, getting your nails done together, going shopping, and all the things best friends are supposed to do, while completely ignoring me! She was only supposed to stay for a few days, to watch the premiere, but that was it. She’s been here for WEEKS.”

Twilight began sobbing again, and Sunset put her hand on her. “Twi… I’m sorry you feel that way. I really didn’t know you felt abandoned… and it’s my fault… I want to make her feel welcome here, and we just have so much to talk about, since we’re both students of Princess Twilight… but I should’ve made time for you too… I’m sorry.”

Twilight looked up at her again through tear-filled eyes. “It’s just not fair. You’re MY best friend, and she’s taking all of your time…”

Sunset gently wiped Twilight’s tears, and took her face in her hands. “Twilight, you’re my best friend too. Starlight couldn’t and never will replace you. But you need to understand that I can have other friends too.”

Twilight sniffed. “I guess you’re right…”

“Do you think I don’t get jealous when you hang out with one of our friends without me? Of course I do! But that doesn’t mean we aren’t friends anymore. We can have other friends, and still be besties.”

Sunset pulled her into a hug. Twilight smiled a little. “Okay… I’m still new to this friendship thing, I’m sorry.”

Sunset chuckled and pulled away, lightly brushing Twilight’s hair back from her face. “Don’t apologize to me. Apologize to Starlight.”

Twilight smiled and nodded, then hugged her best friend again before heading off to make amends with Starlight.
