UPDATE ON ALIASING
Over the next couple of weeks we will be moving to Philomena and there are a lot more jobs running that compete for the same resources that aliasing needs.
When an alias request is running and there are other jobs in the queue, I’ve seen jobs that used to complete in 5 or 10 minutes take hours to complete. In fact, I’ve got one running right now that has been going for almost half a day. It’s working, but the legacy site has a lot going on right now.
When we get to Philomena the new system will make all of this incredibly faster, so I will get caught up, but for the next couple of weeks aliasing will be happening much more slowly.
I’ll keep looking for opportunities to submit new alias jobs, but I want to be careful to run them one at a time. Having two or more aliasing jobs running at the same time really chugs the legacy site down.
