The site has been around long enough that a lot of artists who started out in high school or college are now working on their professional portfolios and interviewing, and if they need some set of their art that they created to “simply disappear”, or to at least not be “immediately obvious” we do everything we can to help them. Sometimes people need a complete wipe of their personally identifying information. Sometimes they just need it kept separate even though it still links to them. It’s their call. Every situation is unique.
And artists being allowed to keep content separate or to use alternate names so as not to be identified
is baked into our rules, and something we work hard to protect.
Please remember these kinds of situations often are the result of a compromise that allows us to continue host their art. If we are not willing to uphold that compromise, then artists always have the option of simply taking their art down. So we don’t always have a lot of options as to what we can and can’t do.
And if an artist is in this arrangement, then that takes precedence over “accurate tagging” or any desire to make sure that everyone’s art is under one and only one tag.
