'Queen Chrysalis' should imply 'changeling'

Queen Chrysalis is a changeling, so her tag should imply the changeling tag.

We usually don’t set implications for species on characters, as they can often be drawn in other forms.  
Example: At the time of this post, there are 1,213 pictures of a Humanized Chrysalis that wouldn’t get the “changeling” tag.

Ah. I see your point. In my head, I group all changelings together (even full humanisations) so it honestly never crossed my mind to think of them as a race the same way I would ponies or griffons. Should I delete this post or leave it up?

It’s fine to leave up. Incase anyone else wants to step in with a different perspective.

To my knowledge canon characters don’t get stuff like species or gender tags since those are tied to the character anyway.

No, they do. Otherwise how would you ever find the character when searching for that species/gender?

If there’s a change like a species swap, yeah. But not plain, regular characters. I recall there being discussion about it and it being said that doing so would be superfluous.

The discussion I remember did end up with the conclusion that canon characters wouldn’t get species tag yes. Just OCs and non ponies.

Well, I don’t know how long ago such a discussion took place. But current procedure is to tag it on them. Otherwise there’d be no way to find the character if you were searching under those terms.

I was unaware there was any change. Do not recall any threads or notifications about it. Still seems superfluous to tag such things on default characters but that may be because I’m simply used to excluding tags from searches.

I thought there was a project to construct a group tag system that would remove the need to tag superfluous information? One relevant quote is here @WingbeatPony. I have no idea how far along it is, or if it is beyond ‘neat idea’ stage at all, but waiting for it is still going to be more effective than manually tagging hundreds of thousands of pics for ‘unicorn, white coat, blue eyes, mare, female, pony’ (or whatever would be needed).
 
Just thinking that there are more important tags than putting ‘earth pony’ on every Pinkie Pie.

Aye, that’s why it’s not a strict enforcement right now to tag pictures with those. [though it is nice to have done] And we only really ask people to not remove them when they’re appropriate to the image.
 
As for the Tag groups/similar function: Those are being talked about and looked into. figuring out the specifics. I don’t know where we stand on it development-wise. But it is something we’re aware of and talking about. Just don’t expect it to be around the corner.

Wasn’t really expecting the new system anytime soon.  
I wonder how many have been removing those tags from canon characters for not knowing about the new policy.  
If Solitude didn’t know about it, how many others don’t?

Well, just looking through the tag changes, there haven’t been any removals that were improper aside from 1 or 2 occurrences on each. So no one seems to be actively removing them. [At least, within the lat 20 days]

Wait, those tags are actually supposed to be added? I legit thought just one person was adding them because he felt like it or something. I only didn’t bother to remove them because I was too lazy :P
