Proposing a "big cat" tag

Hey, so I’ve been going through the species and I’ve noticed there’s a lot of big cat species (panther, lion, tiger, leopard, etc.) scattered through the tags that might benefit from having a parent tag. I don’t want to go super nuts with the tag treeing because it gets pretty unwieldy, but I think we’d benefit from this particular set.
 
I’m thinking either imply them to “cat” or “big cat, and then imply that to cat”.
 
What do you guys think?
 
Current list I have:  
panther  
leopard  
snow leopard  
lion  
tiger  
liger  
ocelot  
saber-toothed cat  
bobcat  
puma mountain lion cougar (animal) (same species, different names)  
lynx  
jaguar
 
cougar - This one should be left as is

 
I would say this is the best option.
 
There’s also a cougar (animal) tag. I don’t know what you want to do with that.

Add mountain lion and alias it into puma, also maybe rename cougar into something with a suffix to make it clear, and/or give it a description.
 
Make them imply big cat, then cat.
 
Edit: Re: Napsack, yeah add that one too as a cougar/mountain lion/puma are the same animal.

“Cat” definitely seems to be a catchall for:
 
housecats  
cat costumes  
cat ponies  
cat girls  
sphinxes  
anything else with feline features
 
Also, IIRC, implies don’t chain beyond the first. So if you tagged lion you’d only get big cat and not cat as well.
 
If this is the case, you’d want these big kitties to imply both cat and big cat, and then have big cat also imply cat.

Cougar, mountain lion, and puma all refer to the same animal, so why don’t we use one of those, and leave cougar as (other than maybe a cleanup/tag description pointing to puma or mountain lion– probably puma).

Should also point out on cougar the tags for actual cats.
 
If it was up to me, cougar would be used for a cat and a new tag with a suffix would be used for the current meaning instead.

Yeah that’s how it works. You have to imply (for example) lion -> big cat, cat. Otherwise it won’t get the tag. But that’s easy enough and I’m going on the assumption that the tags will all be done this way, so no worries.

That could work too. Just not sure that much gets mixed in there, and it’s a duplicate name. Not sure it’s worth the effort but it is definitely worth considering.

I did the big cat thing. Went through and implied everything and removed the stuff that wasn’t actually species related (like tiger, a type of tank; jaguar, a type of car; etc.).
 
I left cougar as is and implied cougar (animal) instead since moving that tag is more trouble than it’s worth, just to be in favor of something that barely gets used.
