Unfortunately, that tag doesn’t distinguish between the endlessly copied YCH’s that Litrojia wants to filter out, and one-and-done YCH pictures (which I assume Litro doesn’t want to filter).

I wouldn’t limit the tag to just YCH. Series like badumsquish’s kitties or the heart pony that was everywhere in the early fandom also fit the same definition, after all.
 
Using alternate version could be a possibility for some of these, but usually the pictures are different enough that I wouldn’t call them just an alteration. So how about “character variation” or something like that? And then filter together with ych.

Good call. Thinking about it, part of a set could probably apply to these. I see some Badumsquish kitties pics tagged as that, as well as the old “upsies and “what do you want series by TJPones, which are mostly the same thing as the YCH situation minus the commission part of it. And a complex filter with that plus “ych result” would work for my needs.
 
Quick edit: Searching for that combo already turns up the kinds of pictures I’m thinking of.

At what point is it considered a pony a [cyborg](/tags/cyborg) or a quadruple amputee with prosthetics?

I think parts of the torso or head have to be replaced to be considered a cyborg.

Cyborg has cybernetics, if they can move the limb approximating their own then they’re a cyborg even if they just have only one limb replaced. Prosthetics is any limb replacement.
 
Yes, this definition makes bad-future Dash a cyborg (she can use the metal wing), and Kerfuffle not one (her prosthetic is just a fancy, “dumb” peg leg), but both of them are “amputee, prosthetics”.

Agreed. A cyborg is an organism that’s extended with (permanent) integrated cybernetic technology. Prostheses that don’t have a biology-technology interface beyond a mechanical connection would not count.

Prostheses do include non-limb body part replacements btw, such as prosthetic eyes, noses, breasts, and dental implants.
 
Speaking of cyborgs, “automail” should imply “cyborg”, “prosthetics”, and “amputee”.

A cyborg is a creature augmented with any artificial equipment. By the strictest definition, glasses make you a cyborg. That said, most people I know generally start at limb/organ prosthetic devices (prosthetic legs, pacemaker, auto-defibrillator, insulin pump, etc).

Cybernetics by definition involve integrated control systems; glasses would only make someone a cyborg if there were some kind of neural link to them or muscular contractions in the head controlled the focus or something. Grandma’s not a cyborg just because she has a titanium hip; a plastic and aluminum leg that simply swings at the knee from gravity and momentum is just a prosthetic, it would need to have an electrical interface so that neuromuscular impulses in the stump activate motors or solenoids which cause it to swing itself before it could be considered a cybernetic leg.

Isn’t “cyborg” a portmanteau of “cybernetic organism”?

It is (hence the source of the start of it), but it uses cybernetic to describe the control/feedback of the bionic side over the mechanical. It doesn’t require the devices that make up the cybernetic organism to provide any feedback themselves. You’ll note the part of cybernetic’s definition that specifically states it is the study of control and communication in animals.
 
Probably the best way to describe it is:
 
Cybernetics are control and feedback systems in biological entities and machines.  
Cyborgs are when you have a combination of biological and mechanical with a feedback system (in the case of what most people call cyborgs, this means the human brain/nervous system).

Futa is a “fun” topic; ultimately, we probably need to alias “trap” into it, but that will have to wait for a future date and a lot of figuring out of things. For the time being I’d just like to remind people that tags are about consistently searching and filtering content first and foremost, not about how to talk about stuff (semantics are helpful in getting people to understand what’s being indicated, but only that).

So the main issue here is whether a metal wing like Rainbow had in the Sombra War timeline is considered cybernetic or just a prosthesis, considering it’s controllable enough to fly with? I’d lean towards no.

…There you go; trying to say you can have a cyborg without cybernetic control is like saying you can have a Corvette ZR1 without Chevrolet. A glass eye is not cybernetic unless it has a camera in it the person wearing it can see with.

I can almost guarantee that plenty of people would be furious with that move.  
As someone who’s into both, even I’d get annoyed that it’d screw with my search results, simply because it’s not what I’d be looking for when searching either term and not the other.

These. Trap and futa are absolutely not the same thing or should be aliased in any form. I like one a lot but not the other at all and it would be incredibly misguided and bad. Plus traps are guys and futa count as neither.

Aliasing trap– which is a garbage term anyway– and futa is the kind of thing Paheal or e621 would do.

"oc:aryanne, -nazi" returns hundreds of results. Given how personal of a topic this is to many people, I believe that there should be a massive tag sweep to add “nazi” to all Aryanne images.

Since Hasbro’s just confirmed it, I suggest aliasing or renaming princess twilight 2.0 to queen twilight sparkle.

Because they shouldn’t have to filter out every Nazi OC to hide the subject, and “nazi” is hidden by the default filter anyways.
