That may be true, but assless chaps are currently being used for characters wearing chaps with no pants underneath. The tag may accurately describing its specific use, but it’s filling an obvious niche and no one seems to be misunderstanding what that intended use is.

–Well don’t I feel foolish.
 
I was correct that assless chaps are being used primarily for characters in chaps but no pants and I checked on that before I said anything. However, I forgot to check the chaps tag to make sure that wasn’t happening there too.
 
Now I’m not sure there are near enough examples of characters properly clothed and wearing chaps to justify having the two separate tags.

Turns out we have a tag oc:only and I cannot figure out if there once was an OC whose name was Only, or if this tag was created by someone who was trying to tag “oc only” but couldn’t figure out the correct spelling.
What’s the verdict here? Should the tag be removed and everyhting tagged with it be retagged with “oc only”, or leave it alone?

That was me, it was an implied tag from “immobile” which I didn’t expect. I let it be because I think the “immobile” tag is relevant but I did find it unfortunate because of the cute/cartoony nature.

People bring their fetish tags from other sites/boards, and after a while >90% of those tags apply only to those fetishes. Given they also tend to not use the “proper” tags, we create implications (or aliases) to make sure those 90%+ instances get properly tagged.
 
Yes, that does mean some images get tags they shouldn’t have, but dealing with those few cases is better than the alternative.
