Assuming those alternatives have no possibility of ever being shut down of course, if Derpi is gone and the management of all the alternatives sprung up in its place find out running a booru is no small feat then we might end up with everyone losing in the end. The more sites the better, let’s not wish for any of them to be disappeared, pretty please.

This whole situation has been enlightening to say the least. I have well and truly lost faith in humanity, but also many people in the fandom. No mater what cause you advocate for, whatever the hell went down on here and various news sites is not the way to have a constructive conversation about these issues. For any community to exist compromises have to be made, and if the collective response to trying to reach that compromise is “if I can’t have my way I’m leaving and I hope you get shut down” or even “I will actively try to get you shut down” then we might as well close the entire Internet down.

I believe I have misunderstood what Barhandar meant there, I thought they meant wiping all images in general and hoping people will see the removal reason when they hit a direct link, not leaving one image up under their tag with an explanation. That’s what I had in mind when writing that it will make it invisible in the same way. An artist upload only DNP that I originally suggested would definitely facilitate leaving only a single image (if you ask for everything currently up to be purged) and makes a more visible stance, but I continue to uphold my original points about keeping things up wherever possible.

I meant the emotional side specifically, maybe that should have been clearer. I do agree that anyone on staff that disagrees with the policy can and should consider if they’re willing to enforce it or quit as a result, but in my mind this is whole situation spiraled out of control and there is no way to win in this debate. I’m specifically not sharing my beliefs regarding whether anyone should or should not remain an active user of the site or what I think of the staff. My only point that I wanted to get across is avoid destruction of existing work that you have control over the destruction of if you can and are willing to.
@FrankFronk
That is a fair point and that might help alleviate if people go through with their plans of mass deletion, but the fact is this is the most accessible way for me to query my catalog of commissioned artwork and any archive that exists will be less convenient to navigate unless it has every tag and searching feature Derpi does. As a matter of fact I do have every commission I got saved in the cloud, but that’s still far harder to navigate.

I’m asking them to reconsider their stance by all means if they were planning on wiping their artwork from the site. If their morals don’t allow it then my message is indeed lost with them, but I speak more for anyone still on the fence.
@FrankFronk
The thing is, the site is forcing censorship on you. Not asking for previous works to be deleted is a decision solely made by the one requesting DNP and is something that doesn’t have to happen.

I would say that a DNP request on its own will have the desired effect on the staff, whether they need to wipe images as part of that request does carry weight, but not adding that clause does not make your DNP any less valid or effective, and in both cases you achieve not having any new images on the site, only affecting the period where this policy actually applies.

It’s sending a message for sure, but at the same time actively harming the community as a whole by making certain drawings less accessible. The specific people having to deal with removing artwork might have even had no say in the this policy being enacted for all we know. Like I said, send any message you like, but I urge everyone to at least not delete history while doing so, if their morals allow.
@Barhandar
Requesting to wipe previously allowed images that are now no longer allowed will also make them “invisible” in that sense, and it’s essentially taking the fact that no previous content was wiped and making sure it happens anyway.

Regardless of whether you are for or against recent changes I believe no images already on the site were removed by the mods, and I’m a strong believer in archival. I’ve personally been on DNP for ages, but “artist upload only” and when I request takedowns of images I did it’s mainly because I’m ashamed of my old drawings, not because I have a grudge with the site or its policies.
If you’re taking a stand and moving elsewhere I just want to ask that you consider to not opting for full content wipes and choose the same DNP option I did, preserving your older works. This whole situation is horrible enough without losing a large backlog of pony artwork from here. I’ve uploaded a lot of commissions I got over the years - including one from you, Datte, I’m obviously biased - and I would hate to lose those images from here if artists request to wipe their entire tag.
Erasing your drawings only takes a single SQL query and maybe a few seconds for it to execute, you’re not really overwhelming the system and sticking it to the staff. The deletion itself is a minor inconvenience, the real cost is losing a large archive of works off a site that, for better of for worse, has been in existence for years.
The future of any clone that pops up is yet uncertain, and if everyone moves their content off this site to another that’s then shot down for any reason that’s not just a loss for Derpibooru, but the fandom as a whole. If you believe in archival too, by all means upload your works to every site you can find, the more the better, increasing your chances of it staying available for everyone. Just think back to when Tumblr nuked NSFW artists’ blogs on a whim; for many images that was the only source.
The bottom line is

TL;DR Do whatever and go wherever you like, but if I can ask one thing, please keep images already up here up via DNPing as “artist upload only” (the option on the page is “I want to be the only person allowed to upload my art to Derpibooru”) and if you move to another platform keep your drawings on as many as you can (instead of just a specific one) to avoid your works disappearing now or in the future.

Appears to be the same artist, and uses the name without numbers as display names on both Twitter and Discord. I figure it would be better to have only one tag for them.

I’d like to request an update to my OC tag’s description: oc:paamayim nekudotayim
Please remove the part “programming, “ from the second sentence, leaving it as “Her favorite things to do are listening to music, drawing, and Vinyl Scratch.”

When I tick any Art Categories on the Commissions list and press Search the selections are not checked again after reload, so if I search again the previously checked options are no longer filtering the search.

The main reason for this change as far as I’m aware was the fact that the links with tags were merely “aliases” of the base URL without tags. You can put almost anything after the image number in the URL and it will point to the same image, e.g. https://derpicdn.net/img/view/2018/8/4/1798029-akjulgfklhganqz4gvtuzaifngvfbuta4gnfuzh4nbgvu4iaaa.png
This basically creates a situation where there could be infinitely many versions of an image floating around, especially if tags changed a lot, and this makes caching the images difficult due to all the file name variations. Defaulting to the file with the numbers means that it’s the “canonical” file for any upload and we won’t have a dozen versions of it with different tags in the name linger in the site’s (and users’) caches.
The download button was changed to also download the file with just the number ID, but there’s some code magic that changes the destination file name before the save dialog is displayed.

I would suggest opening your browser console (Ctrl+Shift+J) and then clicking, that should give you more information about why it’s failing, and if you share said information with us we might be able to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue.
Edit: nvm looks like byte[] figured it out

Not yet, the naming thread uses a different voting method that has not been implemented this time around. If there’s developer interest it might be added in the future though.

@Proudy Hooves
Currently you can create both multiple choice and single choice polls. Multiple choice polls however have no configurable limit on the number of options voters can pick, the only requirement is picking at least one on those.
@Starry Mind
Cheers.
@DarthBarf
Mods have the ability to remove votes if needed, this was not something that we initially planned on adding for regular users.
@DR35
Please be a bit more specific.

Every speck of caching that could have affected the results has been removed. At this point there should be no more issues with the wrong votes showing up. Please let me know if it seems good now.
