Oh thank god I’m on the right team for once.

The fact that they put this together in 2 weeks is nothing short of impressive.
 
Call them nazis if you want, but those fuckers get organized.

I would like to believe that you have the most noble of intentions when you suggested the idea that one mod would be assigned the role to be devil’s advocate and argue against whether a picture should be deleted.
 
But do you honestly expect that to work?
 
Can you genuinely look at the moderator team as it is right now and say “If I picked out any of them at random, they would be able to look at the image with as little bias as possible and provide an objective argument in favor of keeping it up”?
 
Furthermore, can you say that the team is going to hear that argument out, and genuinely consider the opposing perspective?

To play the part of assigned devil’s advocate requires them to disregard bias and be impartial. And the results of the poll are not promising that they’re going to see things through an objective lens.

The problem with trying to get that consistency with something as subjective as art is that you can never expect a full consensus on what is and isn’t okay.
 
And even if you did achieve that among the people in charge, you’ve created another problem.
 
Even further still with the images being evaluated, it comes from a place of people wanting to control what other people draw, instead of taking the personal responsibility to filter or hide the offending image themselves.

The rule gets worked over and over until what? Does it end when only the mods are happy? When a majority of people in this thread agree with you and the ones that don’t get banned? When everyone that filed a DNP changes their mind and comes back?
 
When does this performance end?

So the way to decide what images are not okay is done by a poll.
 
The poll is done between the staff team, so any feedback by any other user is essentially disregarded, despite the fact that the changes to Rule 0 are supposed to improve the site experience for other users.
 
Said poll isn’t even publicly done, so we have no idea who’s voting, and for what option. We’re just supposed to believe that over half the staff wanted this picture gone with total blind faith. And now we’re being told that the results are only from the members of the staff who are available at the time.
 
And the results are so inconsistent, because what is and isn’t allowed seem to contradict each other with each update we get.
 
What’s the goal here? Seriously, what’s the purpose of doing this?

Ignoring the rules, or conveniently putting it aside when it fits their worldview?

I could print out pictures of Aryanne, blm/acab, and other inflammatory shit, put them on a dartboard, and whatever I hit gets deleted, and the results would still be more consistent than whatever the fuck is happening here.

Glad to know that dabbing is banned but the racial slurs are a-ok.

That’s due to no one having a problem with it until now, or no one bringing it to their attention until now.
 
It’s pretty hard to be mad at something if you don’t know it exists.

Well I would say for the most part, the site has been tackling hatred in a way.
 
Before this mess kicked off, obviously hateful and inflammatory images and comments were met with deletion or even banning.
 
And credit where it’s due, the staff has handled it fast enough that it’s not there long enough to raise a fuss about.
 
It’s not an explicit “hate won’t win” way, it’s a “don’t be a dick” way.

In fairness, since most of the drama came from the Nazi horse, don’t you think you should value the opinion of the Jewish users when trying to evaluate if something is bad?

You’re forgetting the group that suddenly appeared demanding for no sugar, and then when they got their sugar-free ice cream, they threw it on the ground and said “I don’t eat ice cream.”
 
And even with that, the people that originally want no sugar already left, saying they’re never eating ice cream here again.
 
You can’t compromise with people that are no longer in the negotiation.

It probably would have never been made if this site and twitter didn’t raise such a fucking stink about it, causing people to go “You think that’s offensive? Watch how offensive I can make it!”
 
If people just ignored fictional art pieces they did not like, shit wouldn’t get worse.
