You twist my words good sir, I didn’t say anything like that. I said it was my own personal animus that it doesn’t bother me, not that my will should be exerted upon all. Where you read the “as long as it doesn’t bother me, everyone else should just put up with it as well” in my words puzzles me. That was my own personal outlook, and I admitted that I take it for granted.
 
There is irony in the fact I was just playing some Warhammer 40k a min ago, I’d like to think you’d enjoy exterminatus as an extrema measure to deal with things. I prefer the bolter to the orbital strike when it comes to these matters. I trust the mods, and personally believe they are, and will continue, to do a good job. I’m sure they will find a solution to this that both stems the tide of shitposting and preserves our freedom to post.

I sense a bit of troll logic in you - “as long as it doesn’t bother me, everyone else should just put up with it as well”.
 
It does not work like that. Things have consequences. You may protect the precious internet freedom of some people to act like jerks should it strike their fancy, but when the consequence is a lot of trouble and extra work on the other side, one really gotta ask himself what exactly his motivation is for siding with the jerks and not the people who do the actual work.
 
Really, you speak of it as if the two things are unrelated. “Let’s not bother the poor admins, they have enough work, but that can’t be helped” - the point is that it could be helped, but the mods choose not to take any extreme measures, mostly to please people like you.
 
My personal opinion is that, should the amount of work become overwhelming (as it was, recently), I’m behind them if they want to favor themselves a little too and just implement stricter rules. This is a VERY lenient site when it comes to content - almost anything, as long as remotely pony related, gets a pass. It could be a lot more strict about meta stuff if it wanted to be.
 
But I agree that they are probably too nice to do that. They’ll likely try other things first from adding extra staff to installing more software. I hope everyone here is very appreciative of that.

I really, really, really think a blacklist for comments/uploads needs to be implemented. Especially for the former.

Mayhaps the cure can end up being worse than the illness? If there is an easy way to do it that doesn’t require a crackdown then you’d have my full support. Right now, the mods have their plate full, and no amount of bitching is going to fix that. They are stuck in an uncomfortable position, one which requires them to balance a lot of variables in the maintaining of their site.

Even if everyone could tolerate shitposts, why should we allow something meant solely to annoy people to exist?

Maybe I take for granted the fact that it honestly just doesn’t bother me. I see a shit post, I face-palm, and I move on. Doesn’t affect my day, or my ability to enjoy the site. It doesn’t even rank as a “minor nuisance” to me. I suppose people have different tolerance levels then I do.

Which why I expressed my desire to ban such posts if I were running this place. They would be gone, and those who kept posting them would be quickly banned, most likely permanently, if they did it more than three times.
 
I have grown to have very little tolerance for that shit.
 
Though this kind of attitude is why it’s better that guy’s like Smilingpony have the power and not me.

Rare are the times someone uploads a drama / trollbait image and actually tags it as such. After all, the point is to annoy the people that would have such things filtered.
 
Also, there’s a stark difference between having a different opinion and shitposting, and there’s a whole lot of shitposting going on.

I never thought I’d agree with Sid, but hay I never thought I’d do a lot of things I’ve done.

Some of you just need to grow up and realize that people will discuss and say things that you don’t like. Just ignore it instead of trying to get other people to punish people you don’t agree with.
