Well, that was a good finale.

Since it’s confirmed the final season is the last one, all I can say is, thanks for wasting so many characters because you had to keep the spotlight exclusively on your creators’ pets, show.

You know a sad realization I just had?
 
One of my very first comics was a reprint of the old Carl Barks story “Micro Ducks from Outer Space.” That story holds a special place in my heart because of that.
 
While the Ducktales adaptation was okay, but very much an “in name only” version of the story where it only had some peripheral similarities to the original story.
 
When I first heard about this show four years ago and that it was supposedly going to be more faithful to the comics, one of my hopes was maybe we could see a more accurate version of “Mirco Ducks.”
 
And how I’ve realized we’re never going to get a proper adaptation of that in this show, are we? Even if the Micro Ducks somehow showed up, and I’m not holding my breath, it would end up being even more in name only that the actual version of Ducktales did.

Finally caught the episode. It was somewhat cathartic seeing Gladstone struggle like everyone else, and even turning himself into Donald.
 
Lena went full Sailor Moon with that transformation of hers, and I’m kinda happy to see Magica get her powers back.

Follow Scrooge McDuck and the triplets on an adventure? What do you think this is, DuckTales or something?
 
In fairness, what the episode lacked in Scrooge, it made up for in character revelations! Such as:  
-There are magic super-forms and Lena has one. Nuts to you, build-up and explanations! And she got it with only one afternoon of training between “dangerously bad with magic” and “Phantom Blot is nothing before the Almighty Lena, who overpowers him and then defeats Magica while barely trying”. An OC who uses power from nowhere after minimal training to overcome two legacy villains with little effort? That’s gooooood writin’!  
-So far, Phantom Blot has been defeated by Lena, Steelbeak lost to Launchpad and non-speaking cameos and Black Heron was beaten pretty easily by Webby. Isn’t this new F.O.W.L. impressive and a totally legitimate threat to our heroes that’ll lead to thrilling, suspenseful stories!?  
-Lena, Webby and Violet are, in fact, friends. It’s confirmed! …again.  
-The lies mrs. Beakley has been telling Webby. no, wait, we haven’t come back to that yet.

Perk of being an ensemble dark horse.

So, we have Scrooge and the nephews traveling into an alternate universe. Wouldn’t that have been cool to follow? No, because an actual big adventure should be tossed to the side as an afterthought. Like always.
 
Let’s instead focus on the Webby-Lena-Magica drama again even though they overfucking did that back in the first season.
 
Saying that Magica is one of Scrooge‘s deadliest enemies now is a joke.  
If it wasn’t for them encountering each other in the first season finale, I’d swear Scrooge didn’t even know Magica existed.

Webby escaped with Scrooge from Atlantis when Glomgold tried to leave the ducks for dead, has been threatened by Ma Beagle & the Beagle Boys, knew what the kelpies were about, fought Magica de Spell, help capture Harpees, was the first to find out Gandra Dee was working with Mark Beaks to get one over on Gizmoduck, started to angrily interrogate Violet after she pulled out Lena’s amulet, and assisted in the fight against the Moonlanders and especially Captain Lunaris. She’s also not particularly forgetful. How, then, does it make sense for Mrs. Beakley to want to protect Webby from the truth that not everyone means well? How does it make sense that Webby would be surprised that the mer-murder-maids might be less benevolent than they looked considering all the evidence in the cave leading to the lost harp of Mervana?

Hell yes, they knocked it out of the park again. Donald’s song came out from nowhere and was incredible. Daisy was incredible as well.  
 
I suppose future episodes will milk Daisy’s confusion about Donald’s “kids” and have her assume that Della is Donald’s wife.

From what I was told, the reason why Disney originally refused to have the Rescue Rangers as part of the Ducktalesverse was because unlike the other shows, Rescue Rangers was located in a world inhabited by humans instead of the usual anthropomorphic animals or birds, so plugging them in would cause a ton of continuity issues.  
That was the same reason why the Gummi Bears only got a shout out instead of being called by name.
 
Also, looks like the new Daisy is a shout out to her 1950’s redesign.

I really doubt they’d get into a backstory like that, even for a creator’s pet like Webby. The motto of the writers is practically to tell, not show.
