There was also the implementation of complex filters and probably a few other odds and ends. The slowdown could be the result of totally unrelated things too, but should not be a long-term problem (at least I hope not…)

Is it just me, or does the site in general work slower than it did before the changes?

I would love seeing more compact comments, like before. I imagined something like this (I made this while tired, it’s not perfect):

Maybe have some info (Such as stats like “uploaded images” and a larger version of the avatar) popping up, if your mouse is pointing at the user’s name/avatar.
 
EDIT: You could put an additional bar with all the buttons at the bottom, the only thing that really bugs me is that the profile-pictures are so large.
 
EDIT 2: I would also love seeing the exact posting-time of the comment, when hovering over the “Posted about blabla ago” part. (Edit to this edit: Nevermind, this is already added. Never let me post while tired.)

Well… sort of favoriting comments, isn’t it?  
Without public displaying, though, and just for personal use.

There are more than enough sites out there with comment voting systems anyway. There was never any need for such a feature here.
 
And for the record Tex, I think you’re quite mistaken about the EqD commentators. They’ve always been laced with the same jerks you can find anywhere else.

I was sort of kidding about bookmarking the link to comment in your browser or something -_-
 
Basically I’m not sure how useful a feature would be that’s just a private list of links to certain comments.
 
 
And comment voting is just a “no”, kind of for what TUA said. It goes nasty with people getting harmless comments downvoted, people commenting just for upvotes, and discussions arguments getting even worse with neat tallies of “people think you’re in the right / are a toad”.
 
Dealing with normal image votes and all the petty “I don’t like this ship but I won’t filter it” voting behaviors is bad enough.

I don’t think we have a feature like that, unless you mean favouriting the image for the comment (which is a roundabout way) or some browser plugin…

Well, if it’s a private thing that has no visibility or impact to anyone but you… you may as well just favourite it in your browser >_>

Still though, one idea worth considering would be an ability to favourite comments. Like, you can later browse through the list of them with a link to the context and everything. And to avoid the problems you mentioned, it could be that it wouldn’t be publicly visible that the comment was favourited by anyone at all.
 
(I saw some people mentioning that they wish they could favourite comments, so…)

Pretty sure you’d still get miles of morons mistaking “I have more upvotes than you” for a valid argument, and innumerable threads descending into petty bitching about upvote counts to the point where everyone in the thread has to scroll up to the top of the screen to even remember what the image was. It’s not worth the additional headaches and asspains for the mods; they spend enough time yelling at us ungrateful wretches as it is.

There’s enough flailing arglebargle drama llama action around here already; if there were up/down votes on comments this place would burn flat to the ground within a week, and the mods would probably be the ones holding the torches. You only think there are a lot of trolls and bait masters now.
 
Equestria Daily– which has always had a much, much calmer and “nicer” commenting environment than Derpibooru– tried having up/down votes in its comment sections for a while.
 
Results were 100% predictable.

But I use the vote tallies quite frequently to sort through tags to find decent uploads, so I honestly can’t imagine using the site without them.

When a comment has been deleted, it should have its peculiar style like it had with the old system, that couldn’t be replicated with Textile.
