Jim Sterling has his flaws, but what he says about the gaming industry as a whole is pretty spot-on. I don’t think his missteps detract from his overall accuracy.

Quite a few people did. Razorfist has a series on terrible gaming media sites, such like Destructiod, Jim’s first place he festered. It was only after the big Quinn scandal happened with a garbage twine game getting so much praise did people began question and then that which was so easily defeated but still the cause of everything bad to today(for them anyways) accrued in the year of 2014 which net lots of them money, and access into the larger part of gaming industry, that Seems to constantly have problems with abusing their power to sexual gain.

But that’s just a conspiracy by misogynists.

Was perusing Jim Sterling’s Kiwifarms thread and came across this, where he didn’t actually give the OG Halo Wars a full review despite saying so. It’s also interesting to see that Mister Metokur (then probably still the Internet Aristocrat) criticising games journalism pre-GG.

It mostly has to do with their copyright laws. Something about if they just let people go unrestrained with the IP, they can lose it - unlike here where stuff like Superman to even Mikey Mouse where supposed to hit Public domain, but the companies in power abuse the system with loop-holes and retain their vice like grip on them.

E3 is pretty much as dead as the VGAs at this point. Most of is were shills for the typical viewpoints, even Arin going on about how “Toxic” gaming is and everyone’s racist while anyone reminding him of his past sins were quickly banned.
 
There were some games that were interesting that were just made boring by Geoff Keighley and his celeb guest awkwardly trying to pretend they know what they’re doing. Nintendo was really the only thing that had anything worth while that I didn’t already know about.
 
Nothing on that Harry Potter game they made a big spectacle last year… Wonder if they silently canceled it to appease the mob, which never happens.

I forgot E3 even existed untill it reared its ugly head this year.
 
Some good Nintendo stuff, though nothing that interested me personally. Microsoft opened strong with starfield and fizzled out hard after.
 
Oh Microsoft, you’re suppose to close with your strongest showing, not open with it. When they opened with starfield I thought we were gonna get an elder scrolls 6 trailer or gameplay reveal or something. What a letdown.

Man, E3 was kinda disappointing. Take-Two went on to talk about toxicity in gaming culture and I’m like, “Please, I already get that from Twitter. Just show me the games.”.

I don’t see GG2 happening. It was a thing because GGers tried to have an open dialog with gaming journalists and were continuously shut down. Even if you doubt the motives of the GGers, the fact that they tried to appear respectable is exactly what defined GG. I don’t see anyone attempting to try this again.
 
Besides, the wider culture war is, in many ways, a much larger version of GG. A GG2 would have to have some defining characteristic to separate it from the culture war, and there have been some significant world events that have failed to do so, so I don’t know what GG2 could even be.

If its possible. I do think a lot of these blogs and sites will be gone soon on their own. It seems there is a small change now towards normality again in gaming.

Some of them still get undeserved jobs and money just because victim status. I don’t think it’ll any better until these idiotic companies wise up to the scam.

If this keeps up, these idiots might get their wish of a GamerGate 2, since a lot them were only relevant. However, I don’t think it’s going to be the big cashcow they want it to be. Maybe I’m wrong.

She had a donation drive for a 25K discord server at least a year ago. Even if people don’t remember her getting logged-out threats, that would be fresh, but she’s was a media damsel and they swiftly buried it like her embarrassing interview that went on to have them pretty much scripted which lead her ego got too big and the Vidcon debacle happened because she dropped her handler and let’s be honest; brains of the outfit.
 
This just seems like either desperation, extortion or just plan no caring as most in the industry would have heard rumors of all the games she influenced were all shelved and pretty much killed. At this point, you’d have to have a death wish to make it public that you support her. Most have stopped supporting these companies after seeing that, that’s how toxic she is and people are just done being told they’re going to hell by her for playing a video.

One of the problems with someone like that is that, while for someone like you, from years of tracking her lack of credibility is self evident, for someone going into, or just vaguely had been paying attention to it is not so clear. With our age of mass media where your lucky for someone to remember 6 months back 5–what, 6?–years now is a long time. Plus with a lot of her detractors themselves exploded in their own various controversies it all comes together to give her a path to rehabilitation . Sadder too in those days archiving wasn’t as prudent (at last from what I can tell from my own Down With Molestia drama research as it is now and what exists is a lot to go through if you really wanted to dig. It would be nice if someone could set up a document with direct context for it as opposed to a maze of tweets and videos.
 

 
This though, is actually a problem, as a lot of folks in my opinion did overly focus on her and it creates a massive backlog of a lot of stuff with little new things to say.

Had a few . . . “conversations” with people that defend Anita and labeling anyone predators that have not yet committed any crime and some have admitting projecting what they’ve done onto her critics to using her as an indulgence. If anyone knows the classic term for that word, you get it.
