There is none. I can only assume the intent here is to create a system where images receive only praise, or no feedback at all. The most extreme interpretation of “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. A social system intended for 6-year-olds in elementary school!!

Thank you. I know it’s going to have it’s fair share of people who misuse it, but compared to downvotes, it’s something they chose to view. They weren’t forced to see it.

You can’t downvote images and you can’t leave comments saying why you dislike an image without the mods or wannabe mods screaming at you to shut up and filter it.
 
What is the incentive to interact with the site if only asskissing is allowed?

The same can be said about upvoting. If no comment is left, then voting up or down tells people absolutely nothing except the sum of the two to provide the image’s general score(or, this is what used to happen, before downvoting was removed). The only difference is that upvoting an image adds it to a gallery by which you can see all your upvoted images(but only you).

I am HIGHLY against this rule change as an artist. Downvotes is extremely helpful for me to gauge how well people like my artwork.

Without the downvote system I would have assumed the Sonic drawing was the best. Making me want to draw more Sonic. But that’s a lie. Because people really hated my Sonic drawing. I could see that with the downvotes. But now you took that away I have no way to understand when people really dislike a drawing. I can’t make a clear judgement call on how people are reacting to my artwork.
 
Taking away the downvote system takes away my ability to understand what people really think of my artwork. It puts me in the dark and makes it harder for me to self reflect on what I need to change or improve on. I need the downvotes to understand what is controversial or unliked. Otherwise I could continue to make things people are hating without knowing.
 
I would greatly appreciate it if you would bring back the downvotes.

Please don’t make yourself look stupid by posting nonsense.

The biggest problem I see here is that the site gave no advance notice on downvotes being removed. I could care less on downvotes being removed, but not letting people on the site know in advance that downvotes were going to be removed is just plain stupid and ignorant.
 
Yes, people would have complained, but not nearly as persistent as they have been today because of how sudden it was sprung. If you had just bothered to give advanced notice, which wouldn’t have taken much time to write up, for in 5 days or at maximum a week, you probably wouldn’t have given yourself a harder time dealing with complaints.
 
No, you can’t please everyone. But you can damn well try even if you know it is impossible.

The site has a pretty bad history of users abusing the downvote feature. I remember stumbling onto a series of pictures while, while I wasn’t fond of someone took the time to mass Downvotes all of these pictures by the person. Not only that, some people would just down vote an image for the sake of downvoting it for no good reason. Not even disliking it, just for some weird reason.

I never really used downvotes to begin with and I probably won’t use the hide function outside of the tags I already have blacklisted. My only problem with this change (And one I’m sure can be fixed) is that it breaks one site function and that’s it.
