I really don’t know what other option there would be.

We can see their IP address, see if they have other profiles they are also using, and often are able to use bulk tools to fix whatever problems they are causing.

If after talking with them, or at least trying to talk with them, they won’t change then we’re able to escalate our responses.

So, yes - please report them.

But, if they’re who I think you are, I already have been sending them PMs and enough has happened that the big plexiglass shield over the “Ban this sucker” button has already popped up. So if it’s who I think it is, if your report shows they haven’t changed their behavior, then your report will help escalate the ‘final solution’.

Which, if it’s who I think you’re talking about, might actually be as good for them as it will be for all the artists whose work they keep slapping onto crude edits. Behind the scenes the amount of self-loathing going on is legendary. Very much “I don’t know how to stop” energy.

I’m unfortunately once again dealing with a user who takes other people’s vectors, copy-pastes them into a new image and uploads it with only their own artist tag and no sources at all. I’ve tried to contact them, but received no reply.

Is there really no other option except reporting them?

I don’t think anyone is actively working on a feature like that. But there might be someone working on a branch to support it on the Philomena GITHUB - it is open source, and lots of people are working on different things. But, even if such a feature were added to Philomena I don’t think this site would ever adopt it.

That said, if someone is harassing you, or breaking rules, or being otherwise annoying in comments or sending you unwanted PMs, report them.

If they’re doing it to you, odds are good they’re doing it to someone else.

Is there a possibility of a “hide user” feature being added in the near future?
Something that hides a specific user’s comments, etc

The dup detector is not perfect. And a lot of dups actually are alternate versions or resizes. So, human intervention and judgement is really desirable.

Maybe if someone is too young or mentally unstable to be here then they shouldn’t be here.

You are still responsible for your profiles, and for the actions of those profiles.

Because the artist is gonna be making a new account and not be associated with anyone on here because they didn’t do anything wrong and don’t want drama associated with them

Don’t blame the artist for anything that happened on this account. Also, on their new account. You’re not to harass blame them for anything that happened here. They are a really nice person, I know

Also. Not related to me, just a small thought. Maybe there could be anyone who wants to make and manage an account (with permission) for someone who is too young or mentally unstable to do so but wants to share things and they might see this answer

How are duplicates still getting uploaded? Shouldn’t there be a warning that says that the image has already been uploaded?

Yes. Just report yourself for a reason of other and let us know which badges (including all of them) that you want removed.

Please note that if you participate in an event that has automatically awarded badges, you’ll get that badge and will have to ask to have it removed afterward. Same thing if others nominate you for badges that you qualify for. We don’t have a way to “turn off” badging on profiles. We can add a moderation note to that effect, but when volunteers are working though badge nominations we don’t read all the notes on profiles before awarding badges. Someone not wanting badges, or particular badges, is really an edge case and has to be handles on a case-by-case basis.

No. There’s no such functionality, and we don’t want to have to deal with that level of managing people’s personal interactions.

I mean, you can ask that in your About Me, but just as someone replying to one of your comments or posts does not break any rules - even if you ask people not to reply to you in the comment or post, someone sending you a PM is not, in and of itself, breaking a rule even if you ask people not to.

You are responsible for each and all of your profiles. If you are breaking rules with one of your profiles, then that is the one we are going to respond to.

PS: I already removed your Magic Inkwell badge - months ago. Why do you keep asking if we can do things for you that we’ve already done?

Is it possible for an account to refuse any badges and have 0 at will. Even if the qualify for them. Such as the artist badge, inkwell badge and such?

Would it also be right on an account. To ask certain requests like “Don’t message this person unless mod” for example? Or ask moderators to message another account about any concerns of that one?

Yes, it is possible, with the query tag_count:0. But no such posts exist currently, and none could be made that way unless an admin does it.

Correct. The search queries used by the homepage and image index do not even use any tags, so the image would be visible there.

I kept forgetting you can use that symbol as a wild card. So, it doesn’t get buried and lost? Just harder to search for?

Images in that state would be visible, accessible, and searchable – search does not rely on the presence of tags to find images when you search with a match-all group like *, or a negated condition

Not even removing them after upload? I do not recommend trying it but if it’s possible that way. Then back to the question. Is it invisible, inaccessible and unsearchable? Or the opposite but simply unsearchable?

The closest I’ve ever seen was >>2119636, which I only found because I reverse searched it before attempting an upload.

I don’t think that’s possible any more. The site enforces a minimum of 3 tags. And one of them has to be a rating.

What happens when an image has no tags? Is it invisible, inaccessible and unsearchable?
