I’ve noticed that you gravitate toward simple stories that stay to the point and run shorter, and criticize stories with more moving parts. Is it fair to say you like simpler stories?

No. I don’t criticize stories with more moving parts, I criticize writers with eyes bigger than their belly. You know video games like Horace or Death Stranding where a big problem is the creator trying way too hard to fit every single idea they can into the story? That’s my criticism.
To keep it to that one Warcraft story I mentioned: Your enjoyment is going to be based on how much you’re willing to tolerate the constant diversions and sidetracking to the stories centered around, and let’s be honest here, all the author’s alts. In fact there’s so many moving pieces that all hassle for screentime at once and if you’re only there for one thing (which is likely the primary billing of Jaina and Sylvanas) then everything else is going to be a tedious irritation.
This may just be me, but I find this is where it’s good to break the story up into different pieces. I would either do this by making each chapter focus 100% on a different set of characters so it’s easier for the viewer to skip past the things they don’t give a shit about. Or, and here’s big brain time: Just make it a series and make multiple stories.
For me, organization and readability are important elements that I find a lot of people don’t talk about. You can fault TSR for many things. It’s not perfect, I accepted going in that it would be a rather shallow story because that was the story I wanted to tell. But one thing you can’t call it is disorganized. Focus breaks are clear, each scene has a set few characters, you can very easily skip parts you don’t care about with relative ease, ect.
If you just want to read the scenes with Rey and Alie, it’s easy to do so. Find a break line and if they’re in there then their name will usually be within the first line. Everything is crisp and clean and clear for easy readibility. I understand there are people who don’t care about me bullying the shit out of Kylo Ren but like the lesbians. If that’s you, I have you covered.
I wish more people would think about that. As a writer, the enjoyment of the reader is a very high priority for me. I don’t publish my “baby.” My passion projects stay for me alone.
That Horde Champion story? It’s VERY disorganized. It’s VERY distracted. That’s why you can’t read it.
Anyway that’s my pretentious naval gazing for the night.
only thing I can think to ask is what the devil is a Horace? I know about Death Stranding but never heard of Horace.
