I’m still somewhat baffled by the idea of it needing fancy programming. Its a sex bot. All it needs to be is fuckable. Sapient robotic companions can take however long they take, most people aren’t looking for a robot girlfriend, though. They just want a robot fuckbuddy.

There’s a couple of shortcuts, like using feedback circuits and tracing motion data from people who are going at it. Admittedly it’s still gonna be a hell to debug the code.

Well obviously. I didn’t say it would be easy. A android who has a structure that mimics a human skeleton and mimics the human muscle system would burn through grants like no tomorrow on programming alone.
 
Building the physical shell would be the easy part; programming it to move accurately and realistically would take thousands of programmers and take years.
 
It takes a neural network that is more powerful than the combined computing power of all computers in existence to move the human body, programming a computer to even mimic that is one hell of a challenge.
 
Upside:  
Realistic androids are doable mechanically.  
Downside:  
Programming it would be a (beep) (beep) mother of (beep) on a sunday (beep) while walking on the beach and a (beep) (beep) (beep) fucking nightmare; meaning we probably won’t see them for one or two decades.
