As a native american, you have no idea how fucking irate I get watching white people tell me that I should be angry about some sports teams names while my tribe is quite literally at this very moment having (reservation) land stolen from them by the state government despite this same ruling being upheld several times in the past by the supreme court.

Not an apples to apples comparison but you get my point. I agree with you entirely, that shit is not acceptable and I’d never assume my ancestors felt a certain way about anything because it would be disrespectful to do so.

Are these three pictures too “shocking” for you to look at? If they are, do you think you are able to be a judge on this issue? If they aren’t, do you think they are still worthy of being banned “just to be sure” and that it’s a reasonnable action to take?

No. Up until a week ago, I would have just said filter the damn nazi tag.

You know, I begin to understand Hitler. Antisemitism in 1932’s Germany was very widespread, and ditto anti-communism after the failure of their attempt to get in power; it was quite easy to tell the crowd what they wanted to hear, since they already hated both, and just point at people you wanted gone, regardless of how semitic or communistic they were.
 
It’s even easier today, as you don’t even need to tell - just point, say “nazi”, and the gullible, violent fools will pounce obediently.
 
The only reason we’re not seeing a Fourth Reich rising is that there isn’t a charismatic leader, yet.

My grandmother would be pissed for letting little fascists gain in power feeling free to use the same tactics nazis have done to force a political point of view.  
This is what is happening here. Nazis burned books and History. Communists also demolished buildings and pushed censorship. So does fascist italy. And now the Social Justice movement slaps “nazi” on anything they don’t like to censor it.

I didn’t want to say it myself, but since multiple other people have, yeah. You sound more like a Nazi than one that would fight against them right now, which suits the fact you’re helping them rather than hurting them.

Okay. You want to play this? Fine. I’m black. Descendant of slaves and all. I may not be in favor of the nazi message but to blanket ban everything to prevent the incursion of some vague, imaginary nazi horde is ludicrous.
 
I was perfectly fine with the old system. Any tags I didn’t want? I just filtered them. 8 years of a workable system down the drain for a stupid policy change that puts an extremely arbitrary ban methodology in the hands of tsp, someone I don’t trust at all not to abuse it and aim it at people and images he doesn’t like.
 
I don’t feel safer because of this new policy. I don’t feel like my ‘dignity’ is being protected. I certainly don’t feel like tsp’s on the moral high ground here trying to go after the boogeyman, and almost nonexistanr, white supremacist menace on this site. It doesn’t make me feel goos, it just reeks of artistic censorship and impliments a ban system that’s rife with the potential for abuse.
 
I may not agree with the nazi message but I’ll be damned if I’m going to back the repression of artistic expression, even if its by a group I disagreee with. Certainly better than this upcoming mess we seem to be headed towards.
 
If that makes me some kind of uncle tom, nazi sympathising fascist in the eyes of some then I guess those really have just become buzzwords to hurl at people by those who think throwing them is an effective way to counter when losing an argument these days.

My grandmother believes that being able to freely and publicly discuss and dispute bad ideas is the best way to stop them from gaining power.  
The deeper you push people into a corner, the more clearly they can hear each other and the less they’ll listen to outside voices.

Look, I’m sorry for your grandfather’s loss and for what its worth, I agree that nazis were horrible people. But the thing is that there aren’t any nazis on this thread. Only people who oppose censorship. I feel like many people these days don’t even know what a real nazi actually is.
