Background Pony #04B6
For those involved with parent/offspring tagging, I’d like to solicit your thoughts regarding practices and conventions for tagging pony fusions, which I see as a very similar though not identical phenomenon.

I see what you’re saying, but the very fact that it was decided that interspecies offspring should be implied in the first place should indicate the parent tags were breaking from the site’s usual rule of not implying species.
I maintain that those tags that don’t imply a hybrid species tag are most likely either mistakes, or cases where there is no agreed upon hybrid tag, like draconequus-pony hybrids, dragonlings, and kirin-pony hybrids. (A small tangent to note, many of these do have tags made for them, but they’re relatively small and currently unrecognized as species tags)
At the very least, I would point out that all interpecies offspring parent tag that has implications set up imply hybrid, so at the very least that needs to implied.

I’m going off the list of tags that imply interspecies offspring. Whether the tags imply particular species or not are hit or miss. As you point out, there certainly are a lot that are tagged that way, but there are a similar amount that aren’t, and I feel that’s for good reason.

Again, I must protest. To my experience, the only interspecies offspring parent tags that don’t imply their parents hybrid species are Discord’s parent tags, I was never sure why myself, I assumed it was either and oversight or intentional due to Discord offspring being less consistent in terms of what they turn out as. Either that or it was because we never did settle on a universally accepted tag for draconequus-pony hybrid.
To bolster my position, check the “implied by” tags for changepony and yakony. I’m sure there’s more past that as well that I’m unable to think of.

I know. However, most other interspecies parent tags do not. The site is inconsistent with how they’re handled, and I believe that adding those implications is inconsistent with tagging elsewhere on the site.

Done.
At least for now, I only set those first four tags as implications though. Due to species swaps, I’m hesitant to assume that all offspring will be draconies, and for this reason, most tags for children of interspecies parents don’t imply species. This logic carries over to other types of tags as well, especially character tags. The “interspecies offspring” tag has a similar issue, but that’s an implication of pretty much all relevant parent tags, so I included that here. In short, it’s a mess that’ll need to be sorted out sometime.

If you remove an implied tag, it won’t be re-added.
For future reference though, this thread is for tagging literal parents.

Hey, I have a question: Once a tag has an implication, is it practically possible to remove the implied tag in a particular case?
For example, this pic of mine has Snowfall Frost, which usually implies Starlight Glimmer, but the pic makes clear it is not Starlight in that role. Can the Starlight tag be removed without it being readded automatically?

This is the wrong place to ask about tag implications. In the future, you’ll want to make a new thread for it. I set up an implication between those two tags though, so it’s all good.

If you do not specify a field to search over, the search engine will search for posts with a body that is similar to the query's word stems. For example, posts containing the words winged humanization
, wings
, and spread wings
would all be found by a search for wing
, but sewing
would not be.
