It hasn’t changed..it’s pleasant enough..something seemed a little off about how the characters looked in the movie but at least the animation was fluid.
Personally speaking, I think FIM’s animation style looks rather bland; its quality just doesn’t hold a candle to that of the movie’s. You’d think that after 7 years, the show’s animators would upgrade the animation a little bit (I.E: Change up the character designs, make movements more fluid, etc.), but the only changes they’ve ever done with the animation was add some fancy shadows and (downright creepy) exaggerated facial expressions.
So, what about you? What are your opinions on the show’s animation after seeing the animation of the movie?

As budgeted TV animation goes, the show has always been high quality. As a fan of cartoons in general, I especially enjoy its slapstick elements and wide use of 2-D principles like “squash and stretch” that seem to be lost on many of the animated shows these days. The best part of the animation in the movie was the design updates and the fluidity of the animation that really allowed for the full spectrum of facial expressions. Much improvement in the area of the eyes in particular. I relished the subtle ways their expressions changed.
After seeing the movie, nothing the show’s animation does impresses me anymore, though I can still somewhat admire the bits that stand out.
It’s like the people on this thread doesn’t know the difference between the budget of a Tv Show and the budget of a movie.

I actually made this point. I don’t understand the issue. Money is why the animation is different. Period.

They have no choice. They are working on a tight schedule with a tight budget. And besides, there are tons of original poses and facial expressions, and they still do the best they can within their limitations.
