Will the Series End with the movie?

What do you think? Do you think FiM will end with the 2017 movie, similar to how Ed Edd n Eddy ended with the Big Picture Show?

I hope not. I really want it to continue

I’d be okay with it ending around S7 or so.

It could do the Futurama thing and end, only to come back a year later, then end again only to come back again, then end for the third time with the creators swearing “This is really the end for good this time!” only for them to bring it back again.

Sounds good.

Knowing Hasbro, I have my doubts.

Hope it does, doubt it will.

If it doesn’t end after the movie, I have to wonder what the writers would do for season 7.

The Spongebob movie came out a few years after the show began, similar to MLP. The show continued after the movie, although it’s pretty bad now. That’s what you do when you’re making money: you keep going even if the quality goes down.

Preach it! If FiM keeps going on, everyone has to keep the quality superior.

Movies always seem to induce a drop in quality. Why shouldn’t this one?
 
The Simpsons was supposed to have a movie in Season 2-3, but it was turned into the S4 episode Kamp Krusty for being too short. Heck, they had to pad that out with sweatshops hiring child slaves, a trip to Tijuana and a letter from Lisa because it didn’t meet the minimum required 20 minutes, let alone 70 minutes for a movie. IIRC it went through 5009 scripts before they settled on the one they ended up using. That’s when it started to go stale after people thought Al Jean revived it. Heck, you could say Mike Scully wrecked everything (Lisa’s First Word reference there).
 
And then there’s the SMB movie. It was so bad Nintendo has since banned all of their franchises except Pokemon from being adapted into anything outside Japan.

There’s an exception for every rule. There’s also the possibility that a movie won’t harm this show, however unlikely it may seem to some.

Well, looks like it is not going to be that case…

Season 8 has allready been confirmed for next year, but you problably allready know that by know

People theorize that the S7 finale will some how introduce or connect to the movie. I also read a while back that S8 is confirmed.
 
Fans can only guess what’s in S8. Starlight Glimmer becomes alicorn princess of… something. Starlight Glimmer gains new pupil called Starbeam Twinkle. Starlight teaches Starbeam something lessons. S7 = mane7. S8 = mane8. It makes sense.

Keep in mind the movie started production in 2014, so its unlikely that the show would be built around the movie at this point.

In Season 8, Starlight becomes an alicorn. In Season 10, we get introduced to Gloaming Flicker, a unicorn mare who has lost all hope in friendship and wants to end Equestria. In Season 11, Starlight becomes Gloaming’s mentor. In Season 13, Gloaming becomes an alicorn. In Season 15, we get introduced to Nightfall Brilliance, a unicorn mare who has lost all hope in friendship and wants to end Equestria. In Season 16, Gloaming becomes Nightfall’s mentor. Rinse and repeat for Dimness Glitter, Evening Dazzle and Sundown Twinkle

Evidence seems to imply there will be a Season 8 after that.

It’s 100% confirmed.

After season 8 (and 9, and 10…) I fully expect more movies to be made. It won’t take nearly as long to develop them as the first one now that they have assets they can repurpose.

I’m not sure they’re really going to persevere with g4 into the next decade.
