Really? That’s your pick for the forces “mangling the show’s legacy”? A comic that has run concurrently with the show for years that is fairly easy to ignore (if you’re not into it), and a series we know basically nothing about aside from some visuals and the suspicion it’ll possibly be something silly and also easy to ignore, if you want? I mean, personally I would have gone with that jerk stealing and distributing episodes and all sorts of internal Hasbro/DHX stuff, or the people who sent death threats to the people who worked on the show because of the finale, or maybe just all the pointless drama that usually ended up being not worth any of the anger people expended at various show staff, because those seem substantially more damaging to something’s legacy then the parent company wanting to wring a few extra dollars out of one of their more popular series.

Yep. I’m not going to blame the show for stuff that had literally nothing to do with it in any official capacity. That’s like blaming this image for the comments it generated :P

Gotta say, all the hate for Pony Life just reminds me of when EG was first announced. Who’s to say this won’t go the same route, where everyone is at first dead set against it, but then after a year, general opinions do a complete 180?

I think it’s not impossible for Pony Life to be great, but currently it seems unlikely, and association with Teen Titans Go doesn’t help. My personal bet is that it’s going to be just okay and will try really hard to be funny with some success, but it won’t be anything amazing.

Fingers crossed they don’t do what Teen Titans Go did, which was just “same show, but everything is way worse”. THAT is what ruined Teen Titans Go, not that it was different or new, but that it was way worse :P

Considering im one of the few people on this site that unironically enjoys TTG, MLP FIM taking a more comedic route like that doesn’t bother me that much lol
 
Besides, the footage we got was mostly just focusing on the toyline that was being sold. I think we might get a better picture of the show once we get an actual trailer or something.

Well this seems to be not doing the “same show” thing, so maybe that’s a good sign?
 
It is interesting that even though Pinkie seems to be moving back into the lead role, Twilight is still an alicorn. I wonder if that will have any significance, or will tribal differences be merely aesthetic?

TTG was not even the “same show.” It was stylistically different, and still bad at what it was doing.

Pinkie’s a pretty good character to lead a show like this. Full of energy and fun. Yes, she’ll be obnoxious, but Pinkie Pie already was really damn annoying.
 
Keeping Twilight an alicorn also makes sense in a meta way (people recognize her) and in-universe (to distinguish her from other unicorns). It makes me wish that G5 cuts the crap and either gets rid of alicorns entirely or has her be one from the start.

It doesn’t matter if you blame it or not, or if you agree with it, or even if you think it’s fair. Fandoms always reflect on the things their members are fans of, and behavior of that variety by the “fans” variety does far more damage to the show’s reputation than the official comic book and some random interstitial series ever will.

Except when the target audience is far outside the usual “fandom” circles. How many of those involved in the incidents you speak of were little girls and their toy-buying mothers?

In all seriousness though, I think I could end up liking MLP Life. I recoiled initially but after really looking it looks kinda cute.
 
Just hope they tone down the…energy I guess. Fluttershy shouldn’t be doing that.

What I mean is the cartoon, the original Teen Titans, did it’s own thing that was different from the comics. Go just did what the cartoon did, but a hell of a lot worse D:

Only because people give such shabby behavior the attention and value it craves. I’m not passing the blame, but that stuff only has that effect because other people give it to it. I’m only going to judge the franchise by it’s own merits, not baggage that’s stapled to it by others :/

It could be a shame if people instinctively watched it like g4, and held it to the same standards.

I think there would’ve been more drama if it was a different show but looked exactly like G4. It’s actually better for them to distance themselves right away if they are doing something different.

I guess they’re trying to distance themselves from DHX as much as possible. And you know what that means for some characters…
