Unpopular opinion time

The main motivation is cost and weight. Anything I move in or out of dorms I have to do myself, so having fewer things is better. And again, it’d be cheaper to do it my way or @DanielTepesKraus’ way.
 
Which, by the by, how do you mean, Kraus? Because I need my DVD drive for school (yay old textbooks), but wouldn’t mind having Blu-Ray capabilities.

I can do physical or digital ownership, and actually prefer a file over a DVD - but it has to be ownership, total and in perpetuity. Which is why I just download stuff.

I can’t stand streaming or not owning something. I prefer physical but digital isn’t the end of the world, vastly prefer just having both.

Why do people say digital doesn’t mean you own something?

If you buy a movie on Amazon, but Amazon loses the rights to host that movie on their website, you no longer own that movie. You’re buying permission to access content, not a copy of the content itself.

you buy one of these bitches and a 2.5” hard drive (i think it takes up to 1tb drives). plop the hard drive in the caddy, take the cd-rom drive out of your laptop, insert the caddy in its place, start up the laptop and now you have two drives.
 
next, buy one of these bitches. it’ll do cd, dvd, and blu-ray. it’s a bit of an investment, yeah, but well worth it i think.

I do use Amazon for music, but I tend to buy and download stuff i actually like in any way.

Oh, not a laptop. A big boy gaming desktop. I could fit two or three hard drives were I so inclined, and definitely a disc drive.

Oooh, I use one of those portable bluray drives to rip the CD’s I buy and transfer the songs to my iPod. Very useful.

oh, lol. i’d just upgrade to a blu-ray drive then. they fit in the same slot as a dvd drive and play cd and dvd as well.

Yeah just looked at it, $50-ish bucks. So I can either have a full set of CMC funkos, or a blu-ray disc drive. Decisions, decisions…

I had a chance to get Luna and Celestia when they were fist released for retail price.
 
I just didn’t for some reason. Huge regrets.

C’est la vie. Price change over time is why Sweetie Belle costs $7, so I can’t complain. I have my mini-Luna, which is enough on that front.
 
The issue is the torment over whether to keep $7 Sweetie Belle in the box or not, since I’m getting it mint in box for stupid cheap and could later resell for large gains, but on the other hand I want to, ya know, use it for decoration.

Because back in those days, DJ-PON3 was popular among the fandom, and Skrillex’s music was a trending topic.

I like streaming and don’t have a problem with it, but if I lived by myself then I wouldn’t mind owning a disc player and having the entire show on DVD.
