huh. missed a good “twilight is a shitty headmaster” debate. i will say though, that if twilight had honor and respect and truly wanted to teach her students about friendship, she’d have stood herself and the cmc in front of the class and said “earlier today i was angry and i unfairly accused these three of something they didn’t do. and it was wrong of me. friends shouldn’t do that to each other. girls, i was wrong and i’m sorry.”

that worked in the episode’s favor because it made it pure catharsis for one simple fact. really think about the plot step by step. it’s about a dangerous unsympathetic selfish antagonist targeting a protagonist and her friends as payback for taking something he wanted. they are “dueling” one-on-one because the antagonist removed the protagonist’s allies from the equation. the protagonist must juggle dueling the antagonist with trying to clean up the antagonist’s messes. the antagonist is too powerful for the protagonist to stop. the antagonist ultimately cows the protagonist into giving him a reward he didn’t earn
or deserve because it’s the only way to make him stop. the antagonist
never once suffers and karmic repercussions, punishment, or negative consequences for his actions, or even really seems to care about how much damage he caused or how badly he harmed or endangered the lives of others. nobody in-universe has any real objection to any of this.
where have we seen that plot before?
