I will admit, I’m not a big fan of girlsay’s art style.
I can tell they put a lot of work into their art, and it shows, and I do have certain pieces that I do like, but a lot of their art just doesn’t look the best to me, IMHO.

A year later and my opinion on this really hasn’t changed. Probably isn’t helped by the fact that their anthro art seems to be focused on making the character’s look “sexy”, which either seems highly unnecessary or leads to some, IMHO, wonky-looking anatomy. Either way, their art, especially their anthro art, just feels uncomfortable.

Is it really such a problem? Just because it’s ancient doesn’t mean it’s been there forever - if that applies to the Princesses, why not the Tree?

If we do want to trace it back farther, though, we have an avenue. What did the Pillars do? They planted a seed imbued with their essences. SOunds like a longer-term version of the Box and the keys to me - in other words, just another part o the cycle.

I wouldn’t blame you if you called BS on Sombra’s attack being the only reason Scootaloo’s parents were only then going back to Ponyville.

I mean, Nightmare Moon went to Ponyville, Discord did his shenanigans there, Twilight cast the Want-It-Need-It
Spell, Tirek vs Twilight happened in the vicinity of the town (Golden Oaks Library being the most notable casualty, but it could’ve been a lot worse, all things considered), Chrysalis successfully pulled a plan that involved replacing a few of them off, Cozy Glow did her thing from there…

And that’s not even the full list of the unfortunate things that happened, before Sombra attacked.

ETA: Oh yeah, and the Parasprites caused some serious property damage, didn’t they?

See, but Sombra made the news because people heard about it. In terms of things that you would’ve heard about, we have Discord, Chrysalis attacking the wedding, Tirek, and Sombra’s takeover. Everything else was contained fairly quickly, except for Cozy Glow, but there is no indication anyone other than those who were there know what really happened. I mean, Starlight nearly ending Equestria is something only she and Twilight knew about when it happened.

And that’s the reason I didn’t mention Starlight. Do we even know for sure that Celestia and Luna know about her going through a time-travel scheme with unintended consequences? I forget. (I’d guess that those two would have come to know, if it hasn’t been confirmed. They’re not exactly unforgiving, if you do your part)

You forgot that Spike knows for sure, because he was there, and the rest of the Mane Six were told about it.

All things considered, good point, with Chrysalis’ second attack, it wouldn’t surprise me if Celestia gave that a PR spun of “Changelings are under new leadership, and we made peace with them,” considering it probably lasted a grand total of a day, and it was meant to be subtle.

I’m counting one of the books where she almost destroyed Equestria because she spent too much time in her room.
True story.

To be fair that’s Twilight’s fault too.

…it’s Starlight and the Secret Suite. Twilight wanted to spend pretty much seventeen hours a day researching together, and was especially focused on this weird time dilation thing that had just occurred. Starlight was all for research, but she was finding Twilight deeply irritating and exhausting to be around.

As a result Starlight faked being sick so she could research alone. This unfortunately meant that her and Twilight were both experimenting on the same effect, at completely cross purposes with each other. The combination almost broke time.

…Spike saves the day in the end, by bashing a pair of dumb unicorn heads together.

That sounds like it would have been a funnier episode.

I liked it. I mean, not a lot happened, but the character interactions were on point.

I wish. He simply prompted the two of them into working out a solution together, delivered a friendship lesson on communication, and convinced the pair to clean up the mess themselves.
When asked how he got so good at Friendship and Magic, he pointed out that he had been hanging around Twilight all his life. Which is something I feel a lot of writers forget.

Geez, it sounds like it would have been the second coming of No Second Prances.

It was somewhat similar, with the roles mixed around. Twilight the… Twilight, Trixie the Starlight, and Starlight the Spike to bounce between the two.

I do feel No Second Prances was the better story, just because of Trixie. She provides the energy the other three sometimes lack, as the book did feel a little inert, revolving as it did around two nerds looking at test tubes in between sniping at each other passive aggressively.
