Shining Armor getting Worfed for the most part throughout the series never really meant he’s an incompetent idiot.
 
• Chrysalis (1st time), he pretty much got mind-controlled, didn’t he?
 
• Sombra was pretty smart, making sure to disable his horn. And he did help solve the problem.
 
• Tirek and Discord… he didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of winning there, seriously. It wasn’t his fault.
 
• Now, granted, everyone did get caught napping by Chrysalis the second time, so this is halfway coherent as a deduction for competence, but it’s more complacency in this case that did it if anything.
 
• Surrendering to Sombra? Well… what would you do in that position? Sombra did lick his lips when he saw Spike falling with the Crystal Heart back in S3, so… I think that was the right call.

Still a better trope than people making Chrysalis and him a thing, because It must be such a funny and cute thing to want to be in a relationship with someone who deceived and lied to you. And when people add sex into it, stockholm syndrome for your bloody rapist. and it wouldn’t bother me if people actually played with the darker aspects of it, but people ignore them.

It’s sick if any part of the period of time where Chrysalis impersonated Cadance ended up involving sex between them. Probably unlikely, *hopefully?*
 
If the genders were reversed, nobody would hesitate to call it what it is: rape. And even if mind control wouldn’t have been involved, well there’s such a thing called “rape by deception,” friends.
 
I have seen that portrayed as rape before (and actually considered as bad), but I think that sort of thing was unfortunately uncommon.
 
Well, main point is, Cadance is a better partner for him, period. Chrysalis possibly reforming in the end would change nothing in that regard.

Kinda want to see how Zephyr interacts with other females. Is Rainbow the only one he has eyes for or does he hit on all skirts?

Yeah, it’s really a double standard, and people like to play it off as cute and quirky “tee hee he’s so dumb” or just as a self-insertion fantasy “chrysalis is sooo hot, who WOULDN’T want to have sex with an alicorn princess AND a changeling queen?!” just because the victim is a stallion. Poor guy.
 
It’s one of the longest running tropes in this fandom and I was hoping it would just die off some day, but it feels like every other day there’s a new image promoting Shining and Chrysalis together, or just as bad, Cadance and Chrysalis. Ah yes, I too have the hots for the one who deceived and kidnapped my fiancé.
 
Again I’d be more okay if people took it seriously or played with the darker parts of it and didn’t just make it some big polyamourous joke at the expense of Shining and playing it off as a fantasy.

In another series, I’d love to see him hit on everyone, regardless of gender, and just never get anywhere with anyone and be hopelessly alone and always rejected. Not out of hate, I actually like him, I would just find it funny.

I wish that people would stop forgetting that Chrysalis is not a pony and is probably pretty racist when shipping her with ponies
 
As a matter of fact I wish people would aknowlage that interspecies couple in the MLPverse are deviant and uncommon rather than pretending otherwise

Unlikely to happen, but if Zephyr Breeze and Prince Blueblood both starred in an episode together… I’d root for Blueblood if they became antagonistic to each other, no contest.

Even the three Pony races seem to “stay with their own” outside of Multiracial areas , not to mention that Interracial couples in Equestria likely have a lot of everyday issues due to the psychical differences between them

The problem with point 1 is that they already validated the other possibility (adopted mother and son Twilight/Spike relationship), so now we have two different contradictory explanations (since if it was a mixture, at least one of the episodes should have mentioned the other side) within a few episodes of each other after 8 seasons of it being ambiguous. Both sides were written by Haber, too, making it even more confusing.
 
My unpopular opinion of the day is that I would have rather them left it ambiguous for the rest of the show rather than claiming both sides as true at different times.

It was written by Haber and dubuc, but the story was made by the voice actors.

Plus I’ve seen a comparison that kind of works regarding their relationship, to Lilo and Stitch, regarding Lilo and Nani… minus the dead parents of course.
 
Twilight is probably his guardian, and he does look up to her.

The voice actors gave ideas about what they wanted their characters to do at some point in the show, but it was up to Haber and Dubuc to synthesize the ideas into a coherent story amd write the individual lines.

Twilight being Spike’s mother is weird though. Snce she was just a child when he was born.
 
The simple answer is that their relationship is something between guardian and sibling.
