I wonder if they’ll outright dive more into the fact that Pinkie Pie has literal superpowers unlike any other earth pony? Not even Fluttershy with her stare and talk-to-animals abilities got a literal ball of magic come flying into her. Maybe they’ll reveal Pinkie’s not even a pony :D

Probably not, cause I feel like her weird powers is one of those things where it’ll forever be left up in the air for people to speculate until kingdom come. If they did that with her Pinkie Sense (remember that?), then maybe they could do that. Or better yet for even more fun, find out what happened to that escaped Pinkie Clone from “The Saddle Row Review”.

Eh, I didn’t like that scene. Keep in mind that Twilight’s Kingdom implied that all ponies inherently possess some form of magic.
 
Plus, it implies that Pinkie’s a special earth pony for no particular reason.

Also, of course, we need MORE SPHINXY! :D

Well everyone in the series has powers for no particular reason. Genetics is funny like that. There’s no particular reason why Twilight and Shining Armor are so powerful, as their parents don’t seem particularly exceptional.
 
Hell, we KNOW Pinkie’s weird for no reason, she’s completely different from every single other member of her family. She’s blatantly a mutation.
 
Maud, Big Mac and Granny Smith all stretch the limits of what I might call ‘normal’ for what are apparently regular old sentient ponies.

As for what I’m expecting for Season 9, I just want them to surprise me with whatever they’ll air. Oh and more Starlight and StarTrix too. :3

Also I hate the whole “they’re special because of some prophesy and/or they’re the chosen one” as a plot device. It’s such a cliche and all it really does is add an extra step to being special for no reason. Now they’re special because they’re the chosen one, and they’re the chosen one for no real reason :P

Well I kinda accept most of them as well (except for perhaps Rarity’s). We know Applejack is very fast, and we know Rainbow Dash starts to bend reality at top speed. And Twilight is… Twilight.
 
Maud’s speed and physical strength is a fairly consistent part of her character though, has been demonstrated in rather serious situations. As has Pinkie’s senses.

The Crystal War Timeline is one of the most seriously dark concepts the show has ever done. And I still can’t get over Pinkie fighting in the war while AJ is not.

I really loved that you don’t see Pinkie’s cutie mark, and she’s completely different. It really adds a touch of character depth.
 
I mean yeah, I liked the subtle changes too (Rarity and RD in Nightmare Moon’s timeline were quite shocking, but managed to make sense in a perverse way), but seeing that Pinkie could quite possibly have turned out completely different was quite fascinating too.
 
And honestly Applejack has always struck me as kind of a pacifist. Notably, while a decent wrangler of monsters she almost always does poorly when forced to fight against a pony sized opponent, she was the character most in trouble during the changling fight. I think her stubborn sense of honor and fair play might work against her, she just doesn’t like hurting folks.

Especially since her opponents would have been brainwashed. She probably wouldn’t like the idea of having to fight somepony who’s being forced to fight back.

Wait, remind me what other pony sized opponents she failed against? Also, yeah, AJ is typically more passionate about helping/saving others. She’s deadly with a lasso, though. ;)
