|| Thr most likely thing is she ends up being friends with Tirek, yet neither really reforms but they get to be friends in evil so the writers can try to make a case of having thier cake and eating it too ||

I like that idea actually. Throw in Chrysalis in there and call it a day.

it doesn’t really work in-universe either. the show spent an entire season demonizing neighsay for writing off the student six as threats and dangerous and characters who didn’t deserve a chance to be taught friendship for real, and then twilight writes off cozy glow as a threat and dangerous and a character who didn’t deserve a chance to be taught friendship for real. and believe me. i’m game with arresting cozy. she fucked up hard and deliberately. just… throwing her in hell with literal monsters? that’s a granny goodness move if i ever did see one. does equestria not have a legitimate prison system?

Not that we’ve seen. The closest is like, small town jails like in Appleoosa.
It’s a place for Equestria’s most dangerous creatures, and arguably Cozy is one of those due to her intellect.
I get this feeling that if you put her around normal guards she would sweet talk them into freeing her by the end of the month

I mean it’s not surprising that they don’t have prisons if you take into account their police force, which is a group of sausages with outdated Roman gear who get their asses handed to them by Ursula from The Little Mermaid and a G-rated version of a succubus, and who don’t believe the savior of an entire empire who tried to tell them that an escaped bad guy want’s to be gay. Oh, and who get coerced easily by cake. The less said about the Wonderbolts, the better.
So I don’t knew what other viable option they had for Darla Dimple there which again, not justifying sending her to Hell.

nevertheless, doing a morally bankrupt action based entirely on assumption there was a potential risk was wrong when neighsay did it…

The real difference is that Cozy had demonstrably tried to ruin all of Equestria. She commited a calculated nation wide act of terrorism with no hints of remorse. The most the students did was accidentally smash part of Twi’s school. She did FAR more than the Student 6 ever did.

When put like that then yeah there’s clearly a 1:1 correlation between the two.
Not sure if it’ll stand up to scrutiny when context or details are added.

I suppose Tartarus counts as a national detention center for crimes of a scope that goes beyond the local level. Crimes like draining all of Equestria of Magic. And it doesn’t use age as a point of discrimination.

To add onto that, what Neighsay did was done with little evidence that would have proved his point. With Cozy, there were plenty of witnesses to her plan. Before she was caught by everybody, there were plenty of ponies who would have known that she was dangerous.

trouble is, so did nightmare moon, discord, suelight, sunset, wallflower blush… hell, i’d much rather attempt to teach a fucked up little kid how to not be fucked up rather than an alicorn princess on her period, a literal god of evil, a woman who tortured people because she got dumped, or a pair of what are effectively high school shooters. not to mention it’s specifically the idea of throwing the kid in hell i’m against. putting the kid in a regular prison or mental facility to get help i’m all for.
@Binkyt11
key balancing difference though. neighsay wasn’t throwing them in hell, or imprisoning them in any way. he was only saying they couldn’t attend a private school.

I’d say Gitmo, but the prisoners in Tartarus aren’t treated that badly.

For me the difference is that, as far as has been shown, Cozy has none of the things that the rest of the villains had.
Nightmare Moon was lonely, Discord had never actually had a friend before, Starlight had no real basis for understanding friendship.
Cozy is actually closest to Tirek in that she just seems interested in power. She isn’t driven by anger and bitterness like Star was. She was at a school designed to teach the students friendship, she had many people who would look out for her and consider her their friend, and she definitely wasn’t lonely.
