I feel like the writers are now stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to Chrsyalis. If the reform her and turn her good, the fandom will explode in anger over the tired cliche of villains getting offered the olive branch. If she gets defeated and gets banished or something, the fandom will explode over wanting to see her again and/or tired of using her over and over again.

I want King Thorax and Chrysalis to meet, and for Thorax to almost get through to her but being unable to. At least the first time.

at this point, I think the fans are the ones who are caught between a rock & a hard place as they’ll flip their shit if she does & flip their shit if she doesn’t. eventually, one of those (Chryssy’s fate) will happen & the reaction may (or will) be the same if the opposite happens.

Then they’ll just have to go with plan C… lock her away for some future generation to deal with. I mean there’s probably plenty of room in the Canterlot gardens for a random chrysalis “statue”. And that way, everyone wins. She doesn’t reform, she doesn’t die, she just goes away.

EQG was definitely a factor per the leak and even earned her quote unquote “disdain”.It’s useless to deny it now and make the whole run of G4 incredibly harsh in hindsight.Imagine,you’re a fan of the franchise when you grow up,you work very hard and succeed to make it evolve beyond laughingstock and punchline and your bosses goes “yeah fuck you.We want to be Monster High and does My Little Pony need to be about Ponies ?,we need to think #OutsidetheBox #SharedUniverse just like Marvel,Millenials love Marvel  
What’s the point of trying to improve those franchise in the end,Hasbro inadvertently make it look that creative efforts are fruitless and a fool errands ?  
Journalist Maria Bustiloss wrote about MLP in regard to EQG in a little essay called “Friendship is Complicated” “There’s a temptation to reckon the attempts of artists like Lauren Faust to create entertaining and meaningful shows within the straitjacket of corporate commerce as entirely futile, hopeless. A mug’s game” and when i look at the unbelievable mess that is the EQG lore with nonsensical trash like Spike a dragon who become a dog and the Diamond Dogs become humans and Nick Conflaone perorating about “shared universe” and “[fans] bronysplaining [his] job to him” in short the utter vacuity of the product,it’s very hard to concentrate on the bright side of things that Bustiloss described in the end of her essay and to look back at MLP without feeling a little pang in your heart.It stings and it leave a bitter taste in your mouth

You really think the writers care about that? The show absolutely indulges the notion that friendship fixes everything and everyone can be saved if they just make some friends.

Well the show IS called “Friendship Is Magic”. It’s not supposed to be some mystifying TV drama where everything has realism and is supposed to follow real world logic and conventions. Now I know that friendship doesn’t fix EVERYTHING, but this is a silly cartoon with its own little world with its own fantasies and rules that it follows.

It’s a commercial for girls’ toys. If Faust was disappointed or whatever that the IP she doesn’t own and exists to sell toys to kids wasn’t in her complete control and was used to sell toys to kids instead of becoming “high art”, well, that’s on her.
 
Nevermind that post-faust MLP is better, of course.

There’s also the fact that EQG is superior to Monster High in every way, so calling it a “Monster High rip-off” is barely even an insult.

Actually, if you go back to some of her early interviews, she said on several occasions that she was surprised she was given as much freedom as she was with the show, and that some of the changes Hasbro asked for weren’t actually bad. And despite her eventually leaving the show, she was always supportive of the team she left behind.

Actually, in all seriousness, I think both eras were good. I appreciate everything Lauren did to make a world and characters we wanted to see more of, and the people who remained after she left for taking her ideas and building off of them in interesting and entertaining ways.

I’d only be okay with it if they actually dove into her redemption and gave it the time and respect a villain like her deserves. Like, if it was just “Oh look she said she never had friends and poof she’s bright and colorful now so she must be a good guy now” I would be so super disappointed D:

I think Renzetti was more important to the quality of the show in it’s first season than Faust was.
