Unpopular opinion time

A thing about Lightning Dust, and something people tend to forget(or ignore), isn’t just almost getting the remane 5 killed, but the fact that she showed no remorse for it. Lightning Dust goes on about how the tornado was so awesome, and when RD brought up about how it nearly killed her friends, Lightning Dust was all like “So?”, which was ultimately her undoing
 
That said I’m all for Lightning Dust getting the reform button as I feel it could works, as long as it’s not “No Second Prances 2: This time for RD/the WB” like some people have suggested

It’s MLP, on-screen death is extremely rare. The Chrysalis and Sombra-wars timelines pretty heavily imply either death or complete domination, mental slavery, or life as inanimate cattle, the NMM timeline has an eternal night and horrible, violent pony-hunting wildlife roaming free, while the desolation timeline, well, all those people aren’t even there anymore…
 
And while all those things in the end didn’t happen, it’s only because someone put in a whole lot of effort to prevent them. And that’s taking a very friendly (and also terrifying) interpretation of time travel where there’s only one timeline and the decades of suffering (and other experiences) lived by the people in it magically didn’t happen (even though they did), rather than the much more likely parallel universe type of time-travel, wherein each time alt-timeline remains as another universe where all these horror actually did happen. Because of GlimGlam.
 
As for LD, she’s just S02 RD. MMDW was an episode that happened; RD, resentful of someone else taking the limelight, put people in danger, and in the end physically assaulted a bond-fide hero. What do you think she would have done to MDW if it’d been a stranger? What do you think she would have done to Trixie at the end of Boast Busters if Twilight hadn’t stopped her? All LD did was cut a few corners to get ahead, and mostly because Spitfire egged her on… at least until the local hero showed up and shamed her into dishonourably discharging and publicly humiliating LD.

that is true, but you also gotta remember the mane six did a really dumb move by derping unexpectedly into a live training zone. they really were only in danger because they were where they weren’t supposed to be and because they couldn’t fly.
 
case in point, you ever been driving and had a jaywalker come running out into traffic and you almost hit them (but stopped in time)? same thing, really.

remember! crying to your superior officer for not getting your way and caving into peer pressure for personal gain (and only caring when your friends are endangered) make you a “true leader” by wonderbolts standards.

As said before, they almost got killed not solely because of Dust, but because they decided to enter a military operation while they where preforming drills. Just because Pinkie was SAD.

I agree with Kraus and Villain pony. Still, LD’s “so?” was uncalled for.

thing is, the mane six are almost entirely at fault. the rest of the fault falls on the blunderbolts for not having warning signs, fences, or sentries to keep trespassers out of their training zone. honestly, as lightning dust, i wouldn’t have cared that some people were endangered but ultimately unharmed either.

Well it’s why restricted airspace is a thing in real life. Just don’t go all Bud Holland over it.

I always just figured that the Mane Six did get the clearance ahead of time and just had really bad timing.
 
What bothered ME about the whole thing was the blatant avoidance of the words “die” and “kill”.

if that is the case then the fault is the mane six’s (if they came at the wrong time) or whoever cleared them (if they came at the right time). there is seriously no scenario where lightning dust is guilty of very much where that incident is considered.

Both Starlight and Sunset are adorable.

I’m indifferent to both. Well, Starlight to a lesser extent, she grew on me for season 7, and EQG I just do not care for at all.

I think what I care about most from EQG now is The Dazzlings..need my Adagio.
