Superficial charm and good intelligence
Yes, very much.
Absence of delusions and other signs of irrational thinking
Debatable. Starlight’s not outright schizophrenic, but she’s highly irrational at times.
Absence of nervousness or neurotic manifestations
Holy CRAP is this not the case! Starlight is a BALL of neurotic manifestations!
Unreliability
Oh yes.
Untruthfulness and insincerity
Oh yes!
Lack of remorse and shame
Hell no. In fact this is how she’s defeated in Cutie Remark, she’s shamed into giving up.
Inadequately motivated antisocial behavior
I feel she’s always got motivation, her antisocial behavior is more to do with her irrational thought processes.
Poor judgment and failure to learn by experience
A little, though her character development demonstrates this isn’t particularly true of her. (and some of the other mane 6 are considerably worse)
Pathologic egocentricity and incapacity for love
Hardly. In fact again, a desire for affection and meaningful relationships is a major motivation for her. She clearly loved Sunburst for instance. Her main issue is being unable to
inspire love.
General poverty in major affective reactions
Again, HELL NO! Starlight’s biggest problem is being wildly emotional, to the point of it overwhelming what little logic she has.
Specific loss of insight
Oh yes.
Unresponsiveness in general interpersonal relations
Again, very much no. Starlight is pretty affectionate.
Fantastic and uninviting behavior with alcohol and sometimes without
Oh yes. As I said, Starlight’s problem is that she desires love and affection, but her behavior is off putting and weird.
Suicide threats rarely carried out
Well obviously not on the show, but she does seem the type.
Sex life impersonal, trivial, and poorly integrated
…I feel I might jump down the rabbit hole answering this one. NEXT!
Failure to follow any life plan.
She’s actually a fairly organized person actually. Not to Twilight’s level, but then she’s
over organized.
In conclusion… no, she doesn’t actually fit the majority of categories. In fact Twilight and Rainbow Dash would score considerably worse.
If I were to diagnose her, I would say she had a Borderline personality disorder.
feel very worried about people abandoning you, and would do anything to stop that happening
have very intense emotions that last from a few hours to a few days and can change quickly (for example, from feeling very happy and confident in the morning to feeling low and sad in the afternoon)
not have a strong sense of who you are, and it can change depending on who you're with
find it very hard to make and keep stable relationships
act impulsively and do things that could harm you (such as binge eating, using drugs or driving dangerously)
have suicidal thoughts or self-harming behaviour
feel empty and lonely a lot of the time
get very angry, and struggle to control your anger.
When very stressed, sometimes you might:
feel paranoid
have psychotic experiences, such as seeing or hearing things that other people don't
feel numb or 'checked out' and not remember things properly after they've happened.
