What? I though the idea was just that they weren’t mentioning Starlight’s past (which they’re still doing is my point), not specifically Starlight not mentioning her own past, cause even season 6 tended to have Spike be the one to do that more than Starlight.

Starlight can be easily replaced by Spike in Fame and Misfortune, or rather Starlight replace him

the problem is, they have starlight now and they’re complete unwilling to just write her out of the show; as she’s now being made a central character ala a mane seventh they have to find SOMETHING to do with this hanger on.  
And, sadly, in this situation they’re more willing to give spike the boot than to give their new character the boot.
