Also since its your opinion, its okay that you feel that way.

I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but Sour Sweet is my favorite of the shadow five.

Given its common use these days as ‘character I don’t like getting more screen time’=’writer’s pet I’d say it was a buzz word.Why give reasons as to why I don’t like a character appearing often or look into why that might be the case when I can just say ‘writer’s pet’?

Because those arguments tend to get ignored anyways. Entire walls of text that are just conveniently forgotten immediately upon reading. I don’t hear people complaining about the usual “Well I liked X so you’re wrong” and “X just means ‘Character I don’t like’” arguments, why should only the defending side get easy ways out?

I think if someone gave walls of text as to why they thought Starlight was a good character they’d just be written off as a hasdrone or a fanboy honestly XD

True, thing is that at least it would’ve happened. Far too often I see the defending side taking the moral high ground as a reason not to try, because “Butthurt Haters gonna Hate”.
 
I did see such walls of text, but it mostly was on EQD, the kind that go above and beyond defending and downright worship absolutely every single aspect of the show to the point where it might as well be an Eldritch Abomination in written form. :/
 
(Truth be told though, effort is overrated nowadays… sadly, flinging shit is easier).

If I may give my one bit, I think that Glimmer is stronger because of what she lacks, like Twilight before episode one, but only got worst and more obsess while Twilight matured and developed bonds, and add in my headcanon that Starlight has a greater natural raw power and much greater ease with offensive and defensive spells while Twi can use practical spells much more efficiently, and you have a nice compare/contrast duo.

My headcanon’s the opposite of that, Twilight has more raw power (got from cutie mark origins episode) while Starlight has a better understanding on theory and that stuff (hence why she was able to rewrite Starswirl’s spell on time traveling).

After hundreds of pages of rage after the Season 5 finale, and Every Little Thing She Does, I forgot all of the actually good points people had against Starlight Glimmer vs what seemed to be endless screaming. Here are some overgeneralizations that in my mind, I’d pretend to be able to refute.
 
From the Season 5 premiere to the Season 5 finale, how the heck did Starlight become good enough at magic to be able to take on Twilight Sparkle in a fight? You do have to admit she seems better at magic in the finale than she was when we first met her. Unless she was holding back or something :\
 
Seeing a training montage or the visual equivalent of her leveling grinding wouldn’t have been enough to satisfy some people, but its a start.
 
Some people are really mad at Starlight for being the second pony good at magic, making Twilight Sparkle seem less important, or they are mad at both ponies for having overpowered magic, and thus making the fights and struggles of other ponies seem completely pointless. OR they are mad about those two characters stealing screentime and episodes from other main characters like Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash.
 
I can actually really understand those reasons.
 
Other people might not like Starlight Glimmer because of her morals or personality. Since liking or disliking her based on that is an opinion, I can’t prove people wrong here, even if I really wish that I could.
 
Even then, I’d think Starlight would be more fun to watch on the screen than have as someone in your life.

I personally didn’t mind that, nor did I really think that. I mean yes, she got this weird power up, but it wasn’t like she wasn’t already kinda OP in the premiere, she could remove cutie marks, I think that’s something.
 
What I like about Starlight, is that she’s a strong magic user, yet somewhat maintained that image of being just like any other pony, rather than following some kind of “destiny” like the Mane6, or what it kinda did with Sunset in EQG4:LoE.
 
I think what I dislike about her is that she’s kinda forced to stick to Twilight, despite the fact she has qualities on being a protagonist herself and her overall character doesn’t exactly fit with the goody-goody image the Mane6 has. To be honest, I think I’d love a side series or something where she travels with Trixie and have adventures, I feel that would be far more better for her character and to be separated from Twilight who is supposed to be this real protagonist.  

Same~ there’s a lot of interesting characters that I love, but very few that I think I could actually tolerate in real life.

I still think they shouldn’t try to make her a hero. She would be a great villain trying to be good.

I envisioned her more so as a protagonist traveller, not so much, “hero” which is what the Mane6 are technically.  
I just don’t like how she’s stuck with Twilight, it’s just an annoying combination imo. It’d be better if she had a teacher/companion whose more neutral, Trixie for example, rather than this goody-two-shoes hero and princess.

Honestly I’d say negative views would have more merit if they weren’t so likely to turn into standoffish or extremely defensive arguments. Or wishing death on the creators because the show seems to be a way of life for some.
 
I think even the ones that practically worship the show take it too seriously as well.

People take things to seriously at times. Maybe we invest too much into the show, and can become irritated if the wrong button is pressed.

If anybody is getting an “adventures of” spinoff it should be Daring

That would be interesting. I would love for there to be a TV series involving Daring Do going on adventures.

I really think there’s something there. It would certainly expand the lore/worldb building and introduce some interesting characters.

On top of that, it would be immensely entertaining.

Sadly the closest we’ll get are those Daring Do chapter books.
 
Shame ’cuz I would really like to see Cirrostratans in the show.

I want to see more of the comic version of the Power Ponies

Yeah, whenever there’s fanart of the Power Ponies, it’s pretty much always the Mane 6 versions and not the “official” versions.
