“Trixie did nothing wrong” is very strong in this fandom.

People can have a tendency to whitewash characters they like, even major villains they like.

Trixie did plenty wrong. Trixie is a walking disaster zone, and she suffers the most for it.
 
Being starlight’s friend has put her in even more undesirable situations and when Starlight messes up, it’s usually the person closest to her who suffers.
 
In short, If mlp was Looney tunes, Trixie pulls the lever, She gets hit by an anvil and tries to act like it was her plan all along. When Starlight pulls the lever, Everyone else gets hit by the anvil.

Starlight hasn’t been really been something resembling “dangerous” to those around her since S7, with her ill-conceived “To Change a Changeling” plan.
 
After that, she kinda just… stopped with the actions that could conceivably cause endangerment.
 
Trixie on the other hand has done something reckless with magic that could’ve caused bodily harm recently: she accidentally teleported a swarm of Flash Bees with the other stuff, because she didn’t think the consequences through… which sounds kinda familiar in a way.
 
It’s not surprising really, when Trixie’s said things like this:
 

 

 
So actually? I think Starlight would arguably be safer to be around, especially her S9 self.
 
Not that I’d think Trixie is actually dangerous, since she isn’t really malicious… post S6 anyway.

Eh, having a notable amount of egotism isn’t really the same thing as being stupid, at all. Otherwise, Chrysalis would never have been a problem for the heroes to overcome.

I don’t think Trixie’s dumb, I feel she’s actually quite intelligent. She’s irresponsible and immature, but those aren’t the same thing.
 
I think the reason is that she’s not powerful enough to be a threat. She’s aware of this too, and therefore acts like she does because she figures she can mostly get away with it. Starlight has to worry about her misfiring magic destroying Equestria, Trixie has to worry about it spluttering and embarrassing her. Add to that the fact that Trixie actually has far more common sense than Starlight, along with no shame, and so can generally extract herself from bad situations without too much aggravation. It would be more irritating for her to play nice and be sensible, than occasionally have to deploy the smoke bombs and run for the hills when it backfires.

So this makes our 4th onscreen death right? Sombra, windigos, Sombra again, and now Phyllis?

If I remember correctly, the original show staff once commented they had “plans” for Trixie involving revenge and an arc about how negative emotions could be a deadly thing to have and feel.

Hmm - that might have tied into Faust’s planned “Elements of Disharmony” arc.

Something like that, I think. Back then, Faust also commented that a big reveal about Trixie was that she also had attended Celestia’s magic school for gifted unicorns, and that she was a real prodigy, way more powerful and able than an average unicorn.

Well, maybe Mean Twilight was the only one who had true sapience, but still, six pure evil clones gone.
