That kinda hair did exist before but it was reserved for characters who would be enchanted by it , nowadays everyone gets one

Sunburst is a scholar. He’s not a magical progidy. He even said in his first big appearance that despite knowing so many spells, he can’t physically do any of them. And it drove him to despair.

Garble still had utility. He was a known character who was also a draconic antagonist, which made him perfect for episodes where Spike interacted with dragons.

It feels extra bad when you get to see the back of their heads and the hair there looks exactly like a human’s backhead instead of a mane that goes down their neck as a single line.

In a related note, there are probably more places in Equestria where clothes are everyday than ones where nudity is nowadays. Makes Rarity’s hometown loyalty seem even more misguided, huh?

The show uses clothes as a means to identify ponies from different lands and social status, so I’m willing to give that a pass.

…Uh, wasn’t that actually kind of a central plot point in his debut (the first speaking role he had)? Him doing nothing more impressive than Starlight, because he isn’t a prodigy of a spellcaster, despite his talent being learning about magic? Flunking out of magic school, whether it be because of a lack of potential, or whether it was because he needed more help getting through the casting process?

You know what I find odd about that? Isn’t he basically what the earliest seasons established was the norm for unicorns? That they could only perform a little magic that relates to their special talent, and that Twilight was unique because she had not only a ton of raw power but also magic WAS her talent so she could perform tons of spells? Why would he be so bummed about that? It’s like a jogger being driven to despair because he can’t outrun Usain Bolt. Still, I’m not complaining. If there’s one good thing Starlight brought to the show, it’s Sunburst. MAN I wish he was Twilight’s pupil instead of her; he’s like 1000 times more likeable and interesting a character :D

I think they kinda drifted away from cutie marks meaning absolutely everything you can do with your magic.
 
I think of it like if your cutie mark is conducive to casting magic, and your potential is good, then it comes more naturally to you. If your special talent isn’t for magic, then studying it comes notably less naturally for you, but you can put forth effort there, nonetheless.

I think he did too. I don’t really see how Sunburst is a prick. I’m fairly sure I’m not wrong in thinking he’s a nicer pony than Trixie is?
 
StarBurst is a better ship than StarTrix, IMO, because when Starlight and Trixie argue… it gets kinda messy, character development for the both of them or not, and I think the former ship would handle a disagreement better.

If you’re a unicorn who’s special talent is baking, then you wouldn’t particularly care if you only had magic related to baking, would you? You’re already equipped to realize your passion.
 
What set Sunburst apart was that his special talent was possessing a VAST amount of magical knowledge, and yet he had none of the accompanying magic power to go along with it.

Nevertheless, him having something bad happen and reacting in an innocent and lovable way, like being bummed and needing a hug, instead of turning into a violent destructive empathy-lacking abuser is one of many reasons he’s way more lovable than the alternative :D

I don’t know if I’m gonna word this right, but that’s one of the reasons why I like StarTrix because when they argue, it just seems really genuine and shows how strong they are when even they can get on each other’s nerves but still stick together. It shows a lot of emotion and it makes it more realistic and human to me. It’s one of the strengths to a genuine relationship where even the two closest can fight and argue but still be together.

Which is exactly why no one should have been wasting their time with him in the first place. Again, it’s pretty ridiculous that the missed the the true prodigy who was literally in the same room.

Lightning Dust is one of the worst ponies to ship another character with (unless you’re going for a bad relationship, I suppose). She’s probably an actual sociopath, whatever your thoughts on Spitfire are aside.
 
I don’t think she can feel guilt, at this rate. You probably don’t say “yeah, and?” with a nonchalant smile on your face after hearing you endangered others, if you’re normal.

Maybe it’s because when she was young, she didn’t have the powerful magic and skills that she wouldn’t have until her adulthood and only did so by studying magic all by herself and practicing it while she was isolated.

Crystalling implied that a lot of her confidence for using magic initially came from Sunburst showing her what to do.
 

 
The flashbacks make it clear that she was just a natural, but her narration gave him all the credit for it. So I could buy that for a long while after he left she just didn’t bother with magic.
 
And you’ve seen Sunburst’s mom. Do you buy for a second that she wouldn’t have shunted him on the first train to Celestia’s school?

I’d assume it’s because he enrolled at the school and got accepted while Starlight was too busy taking her anger out on others :P

Speaking of Stellar Flare, I wouldn’t be surprised if she indirectly caused any possible attempts on Starlight’s part to contact Sunburst to fail, on account of her writing to him too much.
 
After a while, you just start hearing “letter from Sire’s Hollow” and you start throwing them in a pile, to throw them out later perhaps, not even bothering to check who it’s from, because you just “know” it’s from your overbearing mother.
