No , it has to be like my japanese anime and give me the relatable real life struggles that I crave. It’s only good if it appeals to what I believe is good and nobody else.

As much as I liked M.A. Larson and Amy Keating Rogers’s work on the show, the way some people act like the show has “died” without them and bringing them back would “save” the show is… a bit ridiculous frankly.

I think it’s ridiculous when people believe a status quo change or someone’s favourite character not being portrayed as they wanted being the end of the world. Though I suppose that’s a general fandumb thing.

Like, I can sit here and comfortably type “Steven Universe is better than MLP” but also “I have literally zero interest in watching Steven Universe”

I don’t like how most people hold writers on a high pedestal and how they are an ultimate deciding factor on whether or not an episode is good or bad. A writer is incredibly important to what goes into an episode, but it’s not like they are responsible for the creation of the whole thing.
 
When an episode fails, every single person who worked on it is at fault. Not just the writer.

I adored Amy Keating Rogers as a person, but as I writer I place her upper mid tier. Above Josh Haber, below Lewis and Songco. She could produce dross, decent, good, great or wonderful episodes on any given day, and her writing for Pinkie in particular could be bizarre.
 
She gets above Josh Haber because “Best Night Ever” and “Crusaders of the Lost Mark” are the alpha and omega of pony episodes.
 
MMMystery on the Friendship Express knocks her ranking down a little.

Steven Universe has more plot than MLP, but MLP has more plot progression than Steven Universe.

…technically, yeah. I mean if you think about it, the (likely) Big Bad that was responsible for the events of the first episode still hasn’t been mentioned in dialogue, or seen in person.

You say “disciplined”, I say “We get an episode that shakes the very foundation of everything we’ve known about the show, and it’s followed up with 5 straight episodes of ‘Steven’s sad his girlfriend isn’t answering his texts.’”.
 
You can really tell the staff there used to work on Adventure Time.

Yes. Also Shou Tucker literally burns in Hell for it in the manga. I think he’s the only one truly sick enough while everyone else seems to have some form of decency to go to Heaven. Except for Homonculus, he is forever non existent and screaming for eternity.

To use a wrestling reference. Steven Universe is the Kevin Owens of cartoons. I know it’s objectively good, and every time I actually sit down and watch it I’ve enjoyed myself, sometimes greatly. But once an ep/match is over I feel no desire whatsoever to see more.

People STILL care too much about writers. Way, way too much. It’s almost obessesion.

Are you ready to accept MA Larson as your lord and savior? To accept that he was murdered by Josh Haber, but on the ninth season he rose from the dead, wrote the best episodes ever, and got pony renewed indefinitely?
