I wonder if kids even care about the morals. They’re probably too distracted by all the pretty colors and cute horsies with brushable manes.

Please don’t open that can of worms again. If you think the show doesn’t teach good morals, then I question why you’re even watching the series unless you take Chrys’ approach and just ignore them.

Take MMDW, besides the horrible treatment of Rainbow Dash people also had a problem with the moral (I think…) hell, I don’t even remember what the moral was.

The moral they were going for was “You can be a hero, but don’t brag and be narcissistic about it”. Instead, the episode made it sound more like: “Your friend is being an irresponsible narcissistic douche? Try taking them down a notch instead of talking to them about it!”

I never cared about the lessons I was supposed to learn in cartoons when I was a kid. I got my morals from my parents, not my TV.

By the same token, we could just say FiM is a terrible show because every episode (or at least the vast majority) are listed on the Dethroning Moments page.
 
I’m not going to agree with someone just because they posted an opinion other than mine on a wiki. Especially given the subjective nature of the DarthWiki.

Just take TV Tropes like I do: take it with a grain of salt and just enjoy browsing it.

I watch it mainly for the lore, creativity, character developments, and world-building.  
I think that FiM should focus on those rather than trying to be sanctimonious with their quote-on-quote “morality” – if you’re one of those people who thinks that slitting your wrist is the best solution for depression.

Even if it is a “kid’s show”, that still does not excuse FiM for it’s abhorrent attempts at “morality”.  
To put this into perspective, imagine that a child who watches the series was being bullied in school, and FiM told him/her that he/she shouldn’t tell her parents or principle about it because that would make him/her a snitch and that he/she should just suck it up and continue to be hazed because FiM told him/her to, or that the child was being abused at home by his/her parents and that FiM told him/her that he/she should just suck it up to his/her parents because they love him/her, any normal functioning human being with any sort of common sense would see that as completely disparaging and just overall callous.
 
I urge you bronies on Derpibooru who reads this, do not take FiM’s advice when it comes to “morality” – regardless of how ‘right’ you might think the show is.

But wasn’t the issue of one bad apple solved by them finally getting information from Applejack, and AB and Scoots were treated like idiots for caring about the snitch thing so much?
 
And in Newbie Dash, the only reason the nickname bugged her so much was because it was personally meaningful to Dash. They even use the nickname positively. And everything else that happens is what Dash brings upon herself.
 
Parental Glideance is definitely arguable, but I couldn’t really see how they were being abusive. Just obnoxious

Don’t. Man, why do you do this to yourself? You’ll come back and write a novel on how horrible it is and “There Sunset goes again being special and hogging the spotlight while the Human 6 are totally useless!” Nevermind it’s not their story, nevermind they had their memories taken away and believed Sunset was still a bully, nevermind Sunset totally didn’t do anything alone, nevermind FUCKING ANYTHING.

Still, the episodes comes across as saying, “Don’t tell your authorative figures about your bullies; they’re unreliable – and doing so will make you a total snitch!”  
And just to add insult to injury, AJ says, “Y’know this all could’ve been avoided if y’all jus’ came to me in the very beginin’!” – which really doesn’t help the situation as AJ has never once helped AB with her issues with bullying before and in the very same episode, she just stands there while DT & SS haze her sister and her friends!
 
As for Newbie Dash, that’s no excuse for hazing. I get that it’s supposed to be centered around military services, but I thought that FiM was a series aimed at kids – not young-adults in the military!

The snitch thing is mentioned but it’s never really justified. There’s no moment where they try to go to an authority figure and it just makes the situation worse. AB and Scoots just assume that it will because they’re idiots.
 
And with the hazing. What exactly did they do to Dash? They called her a nickname (and not in an exclusively negative way either) and the Bolts have a system where the day’s worst flier needs to clean up, which isn’t even a thing that’s exclusive to Dash it seems. The only reason Dash even feels that way about it is because of something relating to the name that the bolts couldn’t have known.

She should have told them…but then we wouldn’t have an episode. Or we would, if they continued to use the nickname, but that would really make them dicks.

The flight instructor in her flashback laughing at her was kiiinda fucked up tho.

I mean, that’s what I appreciated about the episode in a way. That the Bolts, for the first time in a long time, were arguably NOT assholes.
 
Also, Dash is made of pride and downy fluff. It’s not like I can’t imagine her not wanting to show that kind of weakness to her heroes right after joining them.
