The My Little Pony Movie

It’s a bit funny when some people say “he doesn’t think Starlight is a great character, that only means he hates her”, like the only reason you don’t think she’s a well written character is because you hate her.
That has nothing to do with the fact that they’re not doing things intelligently and correctly nor taking their time. It’s just you hate her.
It kinda reminds me of the Marvel Bias argument when Batman V Superman came out. xD

One gag in the movie that made me chuckle was when Fluttershy subdued one of the Storm Creatures by counseling it.

That was the best joke for me. I’ve laughed so hard that I think the camera man saw me and asked “what’s going on?”.
That’s the humor I remembered from the show. :3

Only thing that sucked about it was it was the only most noteworthy thing Fluttershy has done in the movie. Doesn’t matter though, since it’s Fluttershy being Fluttershy.

I will NEVER forgive how they didn’t give Fluttershy any verse in We Got This Together. That shining moment in the third act is the ONLY thing the movie gave her.
Behold, the actual background pony among the mane six. It pisses me off.

I understand what you’re saying, but to me this film is about Twilight Sparkle and Tempest Shadow. Her five friends work as supporting characters. I think it makes sense because it’s pretty hard to make a script where the six main characters are the main characters equally, let alone making a script for a movie, unless you’re Marvel Studios and you make The Avengers.
So I guess it makes sense to make a movie about Twilight (the main character) and Tempest Shadow (the main antagonist). Because of that, I had zero complaints about Twilight’s friends (except for two or three scenes with Pinkie Pie, but by the time I was starting to watch it I’ve accepted it).

I think you should direct that towards MrSkeyker. He’s the one whining about how they made Fluttershy one of the supporting cast.

I’ve always objected to elevating Twilight above the other mane five, so yeah.
Don’t get me wrong, the movie is very enjoyable, and the writers were on point with Twilight and Tempest, and they certainly TRIED to have the mane five not be totally irrelevant (which has been an recurring issue in the show that only recently they seem to be amending).
But the fact of the matter is that I wanted the Mane Six’s first movie to actually be a group effort. Instead Twilight is once again front and center, Pinkie, Rarity and Dash get to contribute to the plot and conflict, and AJ and Shy are just there for the ride.
It could’ve been so much more.

Well, at least it’s better than any Starlight episode. Or any EG movie/short. At least the characters are more defined and are likeable right off the bat.
I kinda agree, but, to be fair, I can’t even come up with a story for a movie where our six favourite characters have their highlights equally. My favourite Mane 6 character is Pinkie Pie (from the first two seasons), but that doesn’t mean I want a movie where she has more attention than the others. Because of that, I’m fine with a huge movie that’s a bit more focused on Twilight than the other characters.
Not to mention, if you want a great story for Fluttershy, you could rewatch Stare Master, Dragonshy, A bird in the hoof (one of the funniest ones), Green isn’t your color and my personal favourite Putting your hoof down.

I find the characters in EQG likeable right off the bat. And although Sunset and Twilight get the character development focus, all the humane five are given lines and character moments. A big drawn to me is that the characters interact in believable ways, and tend to take down big bads as a team due to how much more restricted and enforced magic is in that setting.

Come to think of it, that never crossed my mind the first time I saw Equestria Girls. I doubt I saw the animation as “stiff”, but I can see the resemblance when it comes to skin color.
@MrSeyker
Do the characters have to look like they’re from the TV show Doug with that art design and that stiff animation?

The movie was a great idea, but needed more Starlight :p. But really Pinkie Pie had a great importance in the movie than other remane5. I hope a better main villain than Storm King with the second movie.

Indeed! Pinkie Pie was suprinsingly likeable in the film, at least half of her appearances (the other half is the typical shenanigans from the later seasons of the TV show). I think it makes sense that someone like her has more dialogue with Twilight than the other four friends, because Pinkie Pie is the complete opposite of the purple alicorn. So, from a dramatic and cinematography point of view, it makes sense.

As a character, Pinkie really stepped up to the plate for the movie. During the “break-up” scene, she showed a level of maturity that we’ve never seen in her before, and that just added so much extra weight to the scene.

Oh, naturally! That scene was pretty well done (even though it needed some natural dialogue for my taste). I think I liked that scene because it shows Twilight at her lowest point during the movie after trying to grab that magic orb. It makes sense to the character because she wants to save Equestria, even if this is the wrong way. And Pinkie Pie was very likeable during that scene and the hippogrifth song.
The only Pinkie Pie moments I didn’t like were those ones where she was acting like a maniac, like that desert scene or that little moment in Canterlot where she just screams. Fortunately these moments are minor compared to the good stuff. I think this is the first time I’ve seen a likeable Pinkie Pie since Amending Fences. :3
Speaking about that scene you mentioned, there’s a lot of silent moments for drama intentions! I mean, ok, it’s My Little Pony, but these long silence moments are good for the story and the atmosphere. The moment where the mane 6 except Twilight were discussing after escaping from Tempest Shadow and we see her back… I mean, you don’t see her face, but you imagine her reaction. I’ve never see something like that in the show, as far as I remembered!
God, this movie is so good…

So, you guys think we’ll be posting a lot more screencaps of the movie once it’s available in either digital or DVD?

I’m afraid not. Hasbro doesn’t own soul rights, so allowing them would get Derpibooru sued by Lionsgate.
