I frequent /MLP I got them there.

So I bought the soundtrack and listened to the songs that are actually from the movie three times.
 
 
I think “We Got This Together” is a throwback to the Season 1 songs. The overall structure is reminiscent of At The Gala, with characters getting their own verses and the chorus. Applejack, Rainbow and Twilight’s verses are similar to their verses in Winter Wrap-Up. Rarity’s verse invokes Art of the Dress, and Pinkie’s verse invokes the various songs she sings throughout the season. Another neat detail is how they reincorporate the instrumental during the climax.
 
Overall, I hate to admit it, but the songs themselves are a bit forgettable. This isn’t to say that the songs are bad (far from it), but they don’t really stick with you.
 
I really thought I’d have more to say than that.

Have to agree. After a second watch, I can say that elements of Open Up Your Eyes and Rainbow stuck. But overall the songs weren’t that memorable.

The only song I didn’t find memorable was I’m the friend that you need.

For a moment I thought all the songs were original, as in made for the movie. I got the soundtrack before it came out, and one of them mentions “Seven billions of us” or something, that got me real confused.

I wonder if YMS is going to do a Quickie on The Movie. I feel like, if nothing else, Adam would appreciate the effort that went into the movie’s presentation.

Same to be quite honest. I find myself humming the tunes of the other songs and if someone were to ask me to sing some of the songs of the film, I’d probably be able to except for that one.

I’d assume one wouldn’t have any severe complaints on any of these events at this point; I have no complaints about any of those statements, it’s the rabid overreaction from them that has me very dissapointed.

Hence the “a bit”. Having thought about it, I think it has more to do with the songs having a more dynamic structure, like how We Got This Together has different lyrics during each of the refrains, and the variations between the We Got This moments that makes them harder to memorize.

I really wish RT curated their audience reviews so that half of the MLP ones weren’t “wtf this is 4 little girls, this movie suxxx!!! fuk mlp!!!” Like seriously that’s at least a dozen “reviews.” :/

Well, that’s what user reviews usually lead to, can’t really change that. If the obvious trolls are to be moderated, does that mean obvious shilling also counts? Whole can of worms to open there. :/

And ironically, I hoped this movie would basically completely shatter that mindset. Like, anyone who felt this way going on would’ve at the very least saw a lot more substance than expected.
