The My Little Pony Movie

I actually don’t think Adobe Flash would be necessary for the film-making of this movie. In fact, one of my wishes was that it had to use another animation technology to justify watching it in theaters. Adobe Flash is a pretty dated tool for TV shows nowadays, so it makes sense to use a better tool, not only for the facial expressions, but for the background. The characters, the places, the dialogue, the phase, the editing are small pieces in a movie to create an atmosphere and a context.
 
With the exception of two or three really weird faces and three scenes filled by Pinkie Pie’s shenanigans, the movie looks great, colorful, beautiful and overall much better than the TV show (something that makes sense and has to make sense).
 
So I don’t think Adobe Flash would be necessary or extremely essential for this movie.

Time has passed and I have severely changed my mind on this. I like this song a whole lot not. The movie’s got a pretty nice soundtrack.

I agree with you so much. Toon Boom looks so much better when compared with Flash. I’m hoping they’ll animate G5 with Toon Boom. Granted since it’ll still be on a TV budget, it might not look as good as the movie, but I’m sure it’ll look really pretty regardless.

I feel like having the movies animation just be slightly upgraded flash animation would have made the movie look direct to DVD

I think One Small Thing gets better if you listen to it on its own, without visual accompaniment. While it’s a good song, and the chorus is secretly good advice on how to overcome depression, the visuals don’t really compliment it.
 
We’ve Got This Together reintroduces the characters, gives us a tour of Canterlot, and has that gorgeous shot of Twilight flying over the water. I’m The Friend You Need takes us on a tour of Kludgetown. Time To Be Awesome is accompanied by them replacing imagery of The Storm King with imagery associated with freedom and adventure. Open Up Your Eyes has a dark colour scheme, lots of interesting camera angles and cuts, and an art style shift. Rainbow is interspersed with the conclusion of the movie, and the credits.
 
But to me, One Small Thing just feels like a bunch of stuff thrown on screen, and it’s one of the very few parts of the movie where I find myself getting bored.

All of the Equestria Girls movies were animated in Flash and the first one aired in theaters and yeah, they do come off as Direct to Video kind of material. So I’m glad they didn’t do the same with this movie.

I get you. I like all the songs in the movie. One Small Thing is a great song too but it was mostly the others having fun underwater. I get that the song was meant to focus on both cheering up Skystar and Queen Novo (and it did to some extent), but it seemed to focus more on the spectacle. Seems like it was mostly made to advertise the movie and toys for TV (and it did end up being used a lot in the actual toy commercials and trailers).
 
Also to add what you were saying about the visuals attached to the song, Open Up Your Eyes also exposes a bit of Tempest’s character both lyrically and visually (thanks to the flashback). It fits fairly well into the plot as well so it’s an important song. Take it out and the movie’s definitely missing something.

True. If I’m not mistaken, the Star Wars: Clone Wars show did the same with their pilot movie.

Actually the Clone Wars movie got a theatrical release worldwide instead of going straight to TV/DVD.
 
Also, I’m going to be honest. If the MLP movie still followed the old Sony script (CGI ponies in the real world, all the cast replaced by other actors, almost no time in Equestria, Rarity supposedly not even being in the final film), I think that it would actually be as bad as the Emoji movie.
 
Don’t get me worng, the Emoji movie is a big fat steaming pile of shit that should hhave never been made, but that is just it’s own brand that it can taint.
 
This is a franchised beloved by a lot of people who have been dying to see a MLP movie, and to have it be done like all those shitty late 2000’s/early 10’s movies based of cartoons like Smurfs or Alvin and the Chipmunks, thenit would be a really big disgrace, since it would be shitting all over something a lot of people hold dearly.
 
IDK, maybe I am overreacting a bit, but if the movie followed the old Sony ideas, it would be a prett big black mark on the history of MLP FIM.

Even if it’s faithful to the source material, critics would still dislike this film for the same reason they hated Bayformers for being strongly different to the source material.
 
Face it, Unless it’s something like The Simpsons, Tintin, LEGO and SpongeBob, faithfulness to the source material has no meaning to critics anymore.

Not really. Even if sometimes I feel oppressed by people who hate everything, even emojis, dabs, fidget spinners, good memes, modern pop culture, today’s films and shows (even revivals/reboots), Hasbro and especially, THIS FRANCHISE (Especially G5) , when I really like/love/appreciate/accept them. It makes me think that love is dead when people think otherwise.
