Basically, DS was upset by what her character trait was- an emotionally stunted marechild. It proves that she’s got a character trait. Also, being driven up the wall whenever there’s a defiance to logic and/or reason within a fictional setting implies being driven up the wall by all villains; villainy itself is borne of emotional reasons rather that logical ones; it inextricably implies emotional immaturity. Like you said, there is no rational reason for Starlight’s actions. I take it further and assert that there can be no rational reason.

YES! Exactly this! Thank you! I am a person who believes in logic and reason, so whenever I see something that defies either or both, it drives me up the wall. They expected something illogical and irrational like this to work on a grown adult, when in reality, it doesn’t. Something childish like this can only work in the context of an actual child, so it drives me crazy to see someone never grow up in such a way.Well, that’s her character. She formed this idea as a child and clung to it into adulthood, because the alternative would have been too painful. You may not like the idea, but this is actually a pretty good illustration of arrested development. Starlight may have grown to adulthood, but her emotional core is still that angry, hurt child. All of her reactions through season 6, right up to Uncommon Bonds (An episode in which she literally turns herself and Sunburst into children in an attempt to reconnect!) can be seen as this inherent immaturity. After Uncommon Bonds, she’s actually been written to be much more mature, which played hell with my fanfic headcanon, I can tell you!
