That doesn’t change the fact that he completly misunderstood her character before the reformation. He brought it to the simplest “Starlight Became evil because of Sunburst”, even tough this is a terrible generalization.
He also called it to be a worse redemption than one of DT and Gilda, which is even more BS.
What’s the diffrence between them?
DT and Gilda were one-dimentional bullies in all thier appearances. They had no ideology behind thier actions, as they did thier evill things just for the heck of it. Then they were “redeemed” in 22 minutes, with the BS explanation that “they aren’t really that bad because they had tough childhood”.
Starlight was never really an “evil character”. She did her things because she belived they were for the greater good. She mentoins that on multiple occasions during the premiere and finalie. This is what she “belived” to be the right thing to do. If there is anything you can compare this redemption to, it’s basicly a debate between 2 people with diffrent world views. By the end, Starlight realizes that her logic is flawed and she accpepts that she is the one in the wrong.
Saying that “her redemption was weak because she had one reason to become evil” contains soo many misunderstanding about her character.
She didn’t also become evil “just like that”. No, she moved out of her house, and built up village, which grew larger and larger. Standard urbanization.
Also, saying that “Starlight cared only about power” is wrong. If that was the case, she wouldn’t live in exactly the same house as everyone else in her village, leading exactly the same life as them. She didn’t “profit” out of that at all. All she ever wanted to do, is help ponies avoid what she went through.
At this point, I have serious doubts if he even watched both the premiere and the finalie, as he seems to have missed the point of absolutely everything that was shown about Starlight.
Also the idea that “we shouldn’t have anyone more powerfull than Twilight and M6” is especially annoying. By the time of season 5, I was already tired of seeing them constantly. It was clear that for the most part, the writters had no idea onto where to go with them. Everything was wraped up in season 5 and every character reached thier endgame.
The idea of M6 being the “sole saviours of Equestria” only makes everyone else seem incompetent. It was a breath of fresh air, to finaly see that Miss Perfect Sparkle wasn’t the “best at magic”. Because if your protagonist is best at something, then it means that everytime he will test that ability against someone, they will come out on top. Having someone to be better at magic than Twilight allowed for her to try diplomacy against Starlight. In turn, this only made Twilight’s character stronger.

Yeah ~ that’s basically why we say “: The really Starlight is the one only can be seen with the heart ; and is essential invisible to the eyes. “Which mean Starlight is easy to be misunderstanding.The drama had happend … but we hope one day , people can see real Starlight as what we’ve been understand . Hope that wish isn’t too luxury.

Not sure ~ trying to analyze Starlight with logical always a challenge . That’s why I prefer to make her fanart instead , that’s a easier way for me to make people understand Starlight more .

ya, but for someone who “specializes” in something, He should do better research.
He’s kinda like Game Theorists. Terrible reaserch and lack of tought, but the outcome manages to be “logical”.

I’ve also haven’t heard anyone properly give arguments against Starlight, besides calling her “OP” which I wouldn’t say is a valid complaint in this case.
At the point where Twilight is so increadiby powerfull, you need to make someone “stronger” just to keep up the “thrill” of the battle. How fun would that be if Twilight was up against somepony who is weaker in magic than her?
I might check out this youtube channel. I always loved Starlight and seeing that people don’t get her, even tough she is one of the best written characters in the show, makes me feel bad.
I’ve also belived, ever since it came to the show, that the duo of Starlight and Trixie is the best thing that happend to show in forever. They are the most lively and realistic characters in the show, wich is a pity since the writters don’t see thier potential.
I’ve said that again and again, but I’m gonna repeat this here. As much as I generally don’t like “show shippings” (SugarMac especially) if they would make a whole episode about Trixie coming out to Starlight that she wants to be “more than friends” i’d actually love the idea of that.
I belive that with thier great personalities, this would be the BEST relationship arc ever to be inserted to the show. Trixie’s low self-esteem and Starlight’s “unique” life philosophy would make for one hell of an episode. ^^
