I feel this argument is weak.
 
Just because you have two characters on the cover of a Friends Forever comic does not mean the writers or artists are trying to actually say they will only be “friends forever”.
 
That I feel is silly logic, and perhaps even trollish.

This is news? Who thought they were actually lovers? I know people ship it, but surely they can tell the difference between canon and fanon.

That is a good point, as most pairings are complete fanon. Still, some pairings have more strength in Canon thing others.

You do realize that Lauren has nothing to with the show anymore right? So even IF that’s how she saw them…it doesn’t matter.

I’m not a shipper, and I hate the aggressive way some shippers act but… Friends Forever is just the title of the comic. It proves nothing.
 
Also friends can end up as lovers… heck if you’re not friends with your lover I’d question your relationship…  
Clearly they’re not currently dating on the show or I think we’d have noticed, but they’re still young.

If you don’t know it, that comic is canon, if it would have been made for the fans this would not be big deal, but it is canon and it does proves anything.

Friends Forever is just the title of the comic subline. It has nothing to do with shipping. It’s not the title of the actual story within it.
 
You’re basically telling people that they’re not allowed to keep shipping this because the title of the comic subline means it’s a friendzone.

Yes they are. Young doesn’t mean child. They’re young adults.  
So things can change.
 
Besides shippers aren’t going to get mad at this believe me, they’re gonna use it as “proof”, as they do whenever their OTP are being remotely friendly with each other or just stand next to one another one time.  
The characters could be mortal enemies and shippers are going to interpret it as unresolved sexual tension.

Applejack007 is absolutely right. This is from one day a year ago when Lauren was making a load of blatantly jokey tweets. You can find pictures of the others here on derpibooru. This one probably only resurfaced on Equestria Daily recently (and yes, EQD REPORTED THIS STUFF ALREADY BACK WHEN SHE WAS TWEETING IT) because it’s like the only one that sounds just barely plausible… If you don’t realize all the other nonsense she was tweeting at the same time. I believe in Word of Faust, but here she was just being silly.
