Season 9 Discussion Thread [Warning: SPOILERS!!!!!]

You know, if the staff was really that dedicated to leaving things open for fan interpretation and for us to decide, why even do the time skip at all? If you really want to leave things up to fan imagination, the time skips mere existence is really detrimental to that. I feel kind of like they tried to have their cake and eat it too a bit.

Is the swirl on Zecora’s flank a cutie mark or just… a tribal thing.

Remember when they said Twilight wouldn’t outlive her friends? Remember that?

Because the show ending with a Lauren Faust idea [Twi taking over Celestia’s role as leader and training her own protege] is a beautiful capper to end on.
 
A whole season building up Twi taking over the throne may as well show Twi as Equestria’s established and seasoned ruler.

It just feels like they’re pretty conflicted on this. There’s a lot of “We wanted to leave things open for fans” but they built the whole finale around a concept which kind of goes against that thought. I kinda feel like they should have picked one or the other. Course, maybe that’d just make things worse, I dunno. I actually feel like the finale wasn’t nearly open-ended enough for my taste, but for every person like me I seem someone else screaming that they didn’t get enough answers for their liking.

I merely pointed out that Jim Miller has a history of botching chances for satisfying conclusions and then refusing to clarify anything afterward. That’s not a personal attack, it’s just his record.
 
Of course, the narrative control here doesn’t allow these kind of opinions. Every time anyone dares to criticize the Holy Writers, someone (usually you) jumps in to attack the “haters” and start hurling insults at those who don’t abide by the preferred narrative. And, of course, the user making personal attacks is never punished while the non-conformist faces certain erasure.

sorry for the scare. meant like a break for an hour or so. ^^; yeah, sorry for getting moody. just had a bad day and am currently climbing back up from rock bottom.

most fan testimonies mention they discovered the show while on tough times and in a dark place. Unfortunately, the show ended by the time i’m there.
 
this show was a major anchor and now it’s gone and that’s kinda scary.

even if my interest in the show waned, it was still a cornerstone for a third of my life and was something i could turn to for comfort during the dark times…now what do i do?

There is always the Comics, Rewatching the Show itself, and the fandom for new material. Also you could look to other shows out there to watch as well. The Ducktales reboot is a good choice if you haven’t seen it.

I dunno. I’ll probably be okay. Just going through post-show blues…also admittedly a bit resentful that I couldn’t be like other fans and find an offline social life and such via the show. makes me feel like i squandered and wasted so many opportunities.

Ah.

I’m thinking about about writing an alternate ending & posting it on Fimfiction. You know, putting my money where my mouth is. Never done it before. I won’t change too much. Just a single difference & then seeing what cascades from there. I’ll be open to criticism. And maybe I can show those of you who are unconvinced the potential I see in my imagination. 📖 ?
