The two-parter has quite mixed feelings, especially around the resolution for the various villains. The Last Problem is somewhat more widely liked, although not by everyone.
 
This needs some clarification.
 
As usual, there are two distinct groups involved in the discussion. There are those who actually analyze the episodes logically and put some modicum of thought into their opinions, and then there are the Joshua-types (mostly from Hasquestria Daily) that devoutly worship the show staff and get extremely irate at anyone not as stupid and mindlessly positive as themselves. All of the “praise” has come from the second group, while the first group have all seen the three episodes for the embarrassing unmitigated disaster that they are.

It seems that this clarification also requires clarification.
 
There are in fact more than two groups involved, depending on how you split it. Those who were always going to praise anything they got, those that were always going to hate anything they got, those who thought about it and liked it, those who thought bout it and hated it, those who thought about it and felt it was OK… Basically, the degree of analytical thought one put into it and one’s actual opinion are largely orthogonal.

Those that are more interested in starting shit and purposefully antagonizing other posters rather than bringing their own argument, those that spam multiple threads and overwhelm with dozens of posts, those that are neutral about the whole thing, those that look at it from a contrarian’s perspective….
 
Worthwhile discussions around here are becoming harder and harder to find, but let’s not throw the blame on there being just two sides, mmkay?

And that’s kinda sad in a way. It would be nice to have sensible people say sensible things about the show. But I guess the first two groups would just tear any sensible opinion apart.
 
I’m also surprised that hatewatchers and faust-worshippers are two different groups. They really seem like one another quite often.

Back then they were just…. worshipers. The early days of the fandom were weird AF, either you pushed ponies down the throats of everyone on the goddamn internet, or you got trampled by those that did.
 
Nowadays claiming like only S1 and 90% of S2 are good is just about as viable an argument as claiming that the series only became better and better over time, bashing the first seasons in a futile display to seem impartial or something. Both are extremes and have little to no people agreeing to them, but hey, makes for a good boogeyman I guess.
